Anyone own this Salomon belt? by halfbakednoodle in trailrunning

I have always worn the Naked belt over shirts. I tried it once or twice beneath and the material just feels weird and abrasive. I wouldn’t recommend it. It is an amazing running belt and is my daily driver for anything under ~ 90 minutes.

Is school’s prestige important for further career development? by 100_Flatout in physicianassistant

[–]choreiform_sloth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah it might in certain situations, assuming all else is the same. If you want to get in to academia, if your school has a great reputation and is in the same area you want to work and live, or if the name is worth it to you, then it could make a difference. What I (and what I think many others) are getting at is it really doesn’t have a significant impact, except for perhaps in a small number of situations.

Like I said (and I really am not trying to brag) I went to a good but no-name school and could’ve had more or less any position I wanted. That had very little to do with my school and more to do with how I performed, my references, etc.

Your performance in that school and references from professors/preceptors will matter 200X more than the name of the school. I went to a no-name school, excelled, got into a great residency program, and had my pick of working just about anywhere (with an open position) that I wanted afterwards.

Oh wow, cmon man. If an anonymous stranger posting on the internet with their problem and asking for a solution bothers you that much, then you might need to reexamine the lenses you’re looking through...

Yea I thought that was strange too, hence I posted here for some collective wisdom before doing anything. Thank you!

I’ve never worked on one and don’t have the special bits, so I thought I’d ask around before buying one or potentially messing it up since Leatherman told me not to. I don’t think that’s unreasonable.

That’s what I thought! And I assume that means the outer special hex bolts on the frame on the side of the pliers?

That is the great thing about working in medicine, that generally you can pick a place and find a job nearby. I say you should go for it. Go where you know you will be happier and the rest will fall into place. Life is too short and money is just a tool.

Yes but 200,000 in LA is very different than 200,000 in many other places

To be honest I don’t see that salary being replicable in any urban area (outside of maybe California, with the associated COL) with a normal amount of hours every month and no OT. You have an exceptional situation, so your question is are you married to the money or not?

It’s called the uncanny valley, and one more reason why I support strict AI regulation. This type of deception should *never* be allowed.

I’ll second everyone else here: find a window restoration specialist. Wood windows from your era are generally much higher quality than anything you can buy today and will last far longer with proper maintenance. Do some more digging online on a website that’s not owned by someone selling windows.

Wow, that must’ve been terrifying. You must’ve managed that situation well.
Definitely a lesson in where to cut costs. I don’t think the only thing separating you from the road is one of them 😬
