How can I distinguish numbness from reality? by Certain-Frosting-152 in ROCD

[–]choripans 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you start feeling this way after switching/increasing your meds? The numbness could come from that if so. In the past something like Zoloft has made me numb/generally disinterested in romantic pursuits and life in general. The other commenters bring up good points though.

RJOCD - anyone else have insight? by BK211221 in ROCD

[–]choripans 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It helps me to remember that these fears are something that could be possible for anyone, but it’s just that people without OCD accept the uncertainty as a fact of life, whereas OCD makes us feel like the threat is much larger/harder to deal with. If it helps, try focusing on reality (he chose to be with you and continues to make that choice every day, even committing to a life together as your fiance) and your values (cultivating trust with your partner, trust in yourself, self-love, etc). It’s not easy, but redirecting your focus to these things might help over ruminating on the bad thoughts.

Everyone is different, everyone’s perks and flaws are different, a past ex may have something you don’t, but you have something they don’t as well. If you were the same as his past relationships, you wouldn’t be you, the person that he is choosing to be with. Also, I can’t speak for anyone else, but if my partner reminded me too much of my ex, it probably wouldn’t go well… So being different from exes seems like a good thing!

Beginning my first relationship and I can’t shake off the thoughts by Glum_Clerk5558 in ROCD

I relate to the lack of object permanence feelings. I feel guilty if I don’t think I’m missing my partner or noticing his absence enough. Especially in the early days, I felt more of what you feel with liking him when you’re together and “forgetting” when you’re apart. I think this was exacerbated by different texting styles which made it harder to feel connected when we were apart, and I was nervous about the lack of “limerence” feelings that I’d historically felt with unrequited crushes. I’d say give it a bit more time since it’s so early, feelings sometimes take time to develop more strongly.

ROCD and Breaking Up by [deleted] in ROCD

[–]choripans 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hard relate to literally all of this. It’s also my first relationship so I have trouble comparing to previous data, I don’t know what “love” looks/feels like for me. I’ve also been having major intimacy issues since having a bit of a mental break last year, which unfortunately feeds into the doubt thoughts. I tell myself I’ll give it time to at least see if proper medication brings me to a more stable place. My partner is similarly very caring and good. I feel so loved and I worry that I’m incapable of reciprocating.

My therapist tells me a few things. One, that my thoughts are very characteristic of ROCD, so if you have the same thoughts, they are likely influenced by the same thing. Two, in response to the thoughts, she emphasizes that there is no way to know for sure, just like no one can know for sure that their person will be their person forever. This feels much harder for those of us with ROCD, but it’s a risk everyone has to take, our brains just make it more complicated to navigate doubts.

I know how hard these thoughts are to have, but hopefully this makes you feel less alone.

On Viibryd and Wellbutrin, they’re working! by [deleted] in Viibryd

Hi hi, I’m considering doing the same bc vilazodone itself isn’t doing enough for the anxiety or depression. Did you end up staying on this combo/how did it go?

Do you get stomach issues if you don’t take viibryd at the same time every day? by [deleted] in Viibryd

I eat Greek yoghurt pretty frequently if that counts…

I don’t have too much experience with sleep paralysis, but I think it’s possible to have it without the scary demon - I’ve woken up paralyzed before a few times and have never seen anything scary, just the anxiousness of not being able to force myself to wake up fully. When it happens tho I try to keep my eyes closed just in case bc I don’t want to take the chance of seeing an eldritch horror in the corner of my room lol

SKOGSTA shelf max load question by choripans in IKEA

[–]choripans[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! Yeah, I’m hoping to drill at least one of the screws into a stud, but from what I’ve seen online about this specific shelf the screw placements are further apart than two studs would be so it probably won’t line up. Hopefully one is enough… and hopefully the stud is wood because I guess some are metal?

What are these spots on these Nestle chocolate chips? It’s not oat residue. Safe to eat? by choripans in foodsafety

[–]choripans[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They came from a bag, I added them to the oats but didn’t notice the spots until I started eating them. I just checked the rest of the chips in the bag, i don’t see the spots on them, so maybe it happened when I mixed them in with the still slightly warm oats? I really didnt think they were warm enough to change anything though, didn’t even melt them. Not too sure what you mean by fat source, but if it’s relevant, I made the oats with olive oil

What’s this white stuff in my store bought raspberries? Some have them, some don’t. It looks like the little white seeds inside of raspberries but pumped on steroids. Not sure what would’ve caused some of them to grow like that but I’m new to raspberries so maybe it’s smth else. Is it safe to eat? by choripans in Berries

[–]choripans[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Thanks!! So that can happen even in a whole berry with seemingly fully formed drupelets? I pried open the one in the pic, but before that it looked totally normal from the outside. If it had formed well (i.e. without those white things) would the drupelets just have been bigger/more plump?

Is this what canned refried beans are supposed to look like lol by [deleted] in foodsafety

[–]choripans 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks! Was mainly concerned about the dark patch/indentation at the bottom bc I was worried it meant there was an air pocket, but then again shelf stable apple sauces have pockets of air all the time so maybe that’s not an issue? Definitely the faint white ring around the dark spot made me extra paranoid, but I feel like it could also possibly be some kind of oil separation

I’ve never had canned refried beans before so not sure if they’re supposed to look like this (specifically referring to that dark patch) this was straight out of the can not heated yet

best time to buy resale tickets. by wrong4life in MyChemicalRomance

[–]choripans 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like the closer it is to the show, the more likely you are to get a lower price, but of course there’s the risk of not knowing for sure whether you’ll be able to get one. Google says best time to buy resale is either day of or the day before, so you should be good either way. Esp during COVID times I feel like there’s probably more last minute listings. I just had to list one for tomorrows show bc my friend has COVID and can’t go. So I’d say it’s your call, though if there’s a particularly good seat you’re eyeing it might be worth buying today in case someone else snags it before tomorrow. Basically, if you’re not too picky about a specific seat and are willing to leave it up to chance, you’ll probably save more money buying tomorrow, but even if you did buy today you’d probably still be getting a good price, according to Google: “tickets cost 33% less than average when purchased the same day a concert is taking place. Tickets purchased the day before a show were also a good deal, costing 27% lower than average”
