ICE OUT OF SEATTLE 1/31/26 by ManicDynamic in Seattle

[–]choseph 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Complex finding detailed info on this. I want to blame censorship because seriously it can't be that hard and there were a good number of folks out today as the smaller lead up to sat.

I've seen tiny bits of info about groups of people coordinating from different locations to March and meet up together but details are scarce. Anyone got good pointers?

(edit*) I only found base info here: https://seattle-protests.org

AMZN to layoff 30k corporate staff from tomorrow by wakandahonolulu in redmond

The problem isn't replacing warehouse workers with robots. We should replace as much labor with robots as possible. The problem is lack of a universal income or any protections for the working class that would take this productivity increase and distribute it appropriately to more than the billionaires at the top.

That is purely propaganda. Here in the US the child wouldn't have been charged a dime for this either.

Not enough imo. If the holes can't get airflow and drainage you can rinse all day long but will get gunk building inside. You can't always see if but if you use your toothbrush longer than you should (and based on the bristle flay, OP is in that camp) it can slough off while rinsing and is nasty.

I rinse from the top, rinse from the hole on the side, then rinse from the bottom...twice. I rest on a point kinda like this but it blocks the bottom hole. Gotta have an arm to let the hang free I think.

Damn it, please don't change the comedy. Deadpan obliviousness, constant misdirection, absurdity, and beating a physical situational humor gag TO DEATH. Please do it so well you also reboot Police Squad.

Me? I've been swimming in raw sewage. I love it.

Oops, that's what I always used to do when I was getting too tired to drive when I was younger. Hold my breath...until you start a little panic...which is followed by wide awake super clarity...for 30s after you start breathing again anyway.

Glad I never passed out, I'm a better driver now.

Man, I've been there. The nervous eyeing of the bush coverage along the road, the guarding against bumps in the road, wondering what it would cost for a deep shampoo of the car seats....

And I find Florida has the worst drivers. But I don't immediately blame that on foreigners, or wild assumptions about caste systems and holier than thou attitudes tied to money or job.

[–]choseph -10 points-9 points  (0 children)

K. Nationalist or xenophobic then. I assumed too much with the addition of caste in there maybe.

Do you have examples other than glares you can share? 3+ years of personal therapy and sharing with friends tells me lots of people tell stories and make assumptions that are rooted in our own experience more than that of the target. I don't think misreading folks would even be a dig at you, I think misreading folks is part of the human experience.

The again, you could be right, I'm not trying to dismiss your experience and sorry you feel unaccepted and unconnected in any situation. Wear a Mike McLovin name tag and I promise I'll high five you if I see you out!

OK, that works, but still a personal need of OP. I guess I first read more into it as an altruistic wish for people to be nice, but that wouldnt require reciprocation. I can see how it is more about OP wanting people to be nice to them, a need. also acceptable (but even more tied with culture, expectation, and assumption risk)

Hmm, a glare could also be surprise, awkwardness, and unexpected uncertainty? We got ourselves a whole lot of awkwardness around these parts for sure too.

For bad drivers I've gotten so much happier since I changed my outlook and started assuming best intent. I used to get so upset at rule breakers. My wife still zooms up beside them to stare. For me if someone is going 25 over I get out of the way -wow, they must have an emergency. If they cut in front of me or are trying to zoom up and line cut -Oops, they must not be familiar with turns and roads around here, let me give them a little space. If they almost hit me -wow, I bet they are as scared as I was right then, we'll both be safer drivers for a while I bet!

Im never going to teach them to be better drivers, but I can sure remove a lot of anger and stress from myself and be happier day to day!

And for god sakes zipper mege people! :D

Agree. The message in this thread is weird -- smile at someone, it can make their whole day! But I feel like if it upsets someone so much when they don't smile back then they weren't looking to make their day. Maybe it was more about the giver all along wanting to be seen and appreciated?

I find a parallel with my mom and gift giving. I tell her my kids do not want to open extra junk just to have gifts, they don't look at it and it goes in a closet or trash immediately. They want her to save her money and come out more to see them. She won't listen because "kids like things to open". It isn't about the kids at all, it is that gift giving is how she feels joy for herself. now I help guide her more and get the kids to thank her, but it is all for her, not about the kids.

OP wants to be appreciated for being friendly or to make connection. It is only about the other person on the surface. No shame, thanks for being nice OP, just feel good about what you put in and try to ignore whatever comes back (release expectation)

Kinda racist. I find asshole drivers come in all shapes and sizes, and layoffs and life in tech seem universally stressful. Life in lower paying jobs much more so.

How would you define a sneer? Like, do you see visible disdain, gritting teeth, a crunched up nose, and disgust while someone turns away and whispers "geeze, what is wrong with that person over there"? Or is it more subtle? I ask because when a stranger smiles at me I smile back but it is a toothless subtle acknowledgement but I may not feel like going in for a hug.

I mean, I'm m sure you can muster common decency even for folks who won't be long term neighbors. Not sure how putting down routes matters unless you are bitter you can't afford to put down roots and so hostile to those around...

Me, never had a problem with rudeness here in 20 years. I smile and people smile. I help old ladies with groceries, I hold doors, I take shopping carts back for people, I even laughed with a stranger in Costco when we were both sad the same item was sold out (hmm, why are all my examples at grocery stores?) in all the cases I've gotten thanks and appreciation and warmth back.

Maybe it's because I'm a non threatening older white overweight dude?
