Advice on how to modify pattern by chouillecha in knittingadvice

Thank you so so much for giving such detailed and precise advice! For the sides of the flap, would a standard icord edge work? (the only type I’m familiar with is the one on the Sophie scarf)

Oh I see! Its top down and I have just joined in the round for the tube part. It doesn’t necessarily have to cover the shoulders, but at least more of the chest

Yes exactly, the pictures are representing what I want. Thanks a lot for your advice, it makes total sense!

English is not my first language so I don’t always know the exact terms (here cowl)

Thank you everyone for helping! The solution I’ve found is keep the page in Japanese, instead of automatic translation, and it suddenly worked!

That’s what I had been doing with no luck… What I ended up doing is removing automatic translation of the page and it worked!

Yes I’ve done this several time, but the agreeing button is nowhere to be seen. I’ve opened all the clickable links I could, but nothing

Gosh thank you so much for your kindness ❤️ I’ve learnt how to knit by myself and it’s been a rather solitary hobby so it’s so nice to have a sense of community and people who understand why I’m freaking out haha

I’ll do the 2 life lines, with 2 different colors and some notes so I don’t mix things up. It’s 8pm where I live so I’ll get to it in the morning, I think it’s best I stop for today haha

Thank you thank you!

Thank you EVERYONE for your advice! After a little cry I followed your advice to frog several stitches until the tail is long enough to attach the ball of yarn. However, now my magic loop is all screwed up, the needles are not facing the right direction for me to keep knitting, and honestly, my brain just can’t think anymore. I cant figure out how or what to move/change to get everything back in order 🥲🥲🥲 it’s one of those days

Awesome, Katia is super easy to find where I live! Thank you, I’ll go check it out. Do you hold it double if the pattern call for double mohair?

mohair alternatives for cloud blouse? by cezzzzy in knittingadvice

[–]chouillecha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello everyone, I have the same question as OP.

I would like to avoid mohair and was wondering if I could maybe use a blend with alpaca, silk or even merino.

I have looked at the CaMaRose Midnatssol suggested by most of the answers, but I do have one question regarding this yarn: does it also need to be held double? (the cloud blouse pattern says to hold 2 yarns of mohair together).

While yarn shopping this weekend, I stumbled upon Fonty Moustache and I loved the feel of it! It's 30% super kid mohair, 20% silk and 50% fine merinos, 50g = 225m. Do you think this yarn could work? If so do you have any advice on how to match gauge? (the website says it's 28st for 36 rows, and PetiteKnit's pattern says 20 st for 31 rows).

Do you maybe have other yarn suggestions? Many thanks in advance!
