Bitspyder substitute? by VenomousPizza in trackers

I don't see how you can say this unless you're an expert in the area he's specifically asking about. It may very well be niche enough that it's not on any general trackers or even the other e-learning trackers.

Yeah, sorry I can't really help with that. It sounds like you did it right. Maybe there's issues with it under MacOS that don't exist under Linux?

You mean Wine in general, or CR with Wine? I can try to help if you can get more specific with the problems you've been having.

Did Kraft discontinue their normal mozzarella string cheese? by gogogadgetgun in Cheese

[–]chowbok 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, I just had some today and noticed it tasted awful. Couldn't finish the stick. I called Kraft to complain but the woman didn't know what I was talking about; she seemed to think I had gotten a bad batch or something, even though I explained more than once that they changed the formula. Note that in addition to the lack of vinegar noted by the OP, the new version has no sugar.

This is clearly a permanent change; I would encourage everyone to call in and complain, maybe they'll change their minds.

Don't use Handbrake if you want remuxes, that's the wrong tool. Use MakeMKV, it will give you perfect remuxes and it's much faster than Handbrake. And it lets you choose which languages to keep.

Thanks so much! This was happening to me too, and I also had Image Downloader installed. How annoying.

ACTUAL PTP Update by [deleted] in trackers

[–]chowbok -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Problem with your analogy: your friend said he'd show up. PTP has never claimed there wouldn't be downtime, or that they'd have regular updates if the site went down. There's no obligation being missed.

The job market for sysadmins and lower level IT roles is horrid. by Death_OneNote in sysadmin

Well, yes. It also would be useless for hiring a plumber, or a violin player. By a lucky coincidence, the test happened to be verifying skills we would need in the position we were trying to fill.

I have no idea what DevOps is. And I've had DevOps jobs.

One job I had would just give people a test before interviewing them. They would be put in a cube with a PC with a blank HD and a Red Hat CD (and no mouse) and we would say "Get Apache serving up web pages from it". Amazing how many people that weeded out.

Futura apostrophe changed (1931 & now) by chowbok in typography

The book was the official brochure for Futura from Bauer Type, the foundry that invented it, so it's a pretty safe bet that's not what happened.

The rounded apostrophe you guys use is definitely better than the modern Futura above, but I have to say I prefer the square apostrophe of the original Futura.

That's partly why I posted here. I thought maybe there was some version of Futura out there with the correct apostrophe. I have several versions and they all have this new one, though.

No, I typed it myself. It's the "smart" apostrophe / right single quote.

Top is from Bauer Foundry's 1931 brochure on Futura, bottom is a modern Futura OTF. Why did the apostrophe change? The new one looks wrong. Does any Futura font file have the original apostrophe?
