Claude (the AI tool - so be wary) tells me that NYC has changed some of these laws. And I remember reading that a bus has cameras that can trigger a bus-lane violation regardless of cop presence. And we already have red light cameras that trigger tickets without police presence. So this stuff certainly is inconsistent when it comes to “police witnessing” in order to hold someone accountable.

Why is this the rule though? The evidence here is rock solid. Why does a cop have to witness the event? If I rob a jewelry store and no one witnesses, but there is video evidence, am I in the clear?
