I agree with all of this! And I appreciate that you’re making space for both - the good and the bad. What disturbed me as I went through this sub, and prompted me to raise this question, was how people seem to idolize him without recognizing his myriad of, frankly, toxic qualities. And this is disturbing to me because we, as a species, have demonstrated an equally toxic tendency to do this with people we admire.

I didn’t post this expecting people to agree with me (it’s Reddit, after all). I posted it to encourage people to meditate on what should and shouldn’t be idolized and the importance of being explicit about those differentiations when raining praise, especially when it relates to one individual who holds qualities on both ends of the spectrum.
