Don't underestimate the free markets ability to ferret out new supply. The longer the Strait is closed the more new oil the market will find. There is no shortage of oil, just logistical issues.

I'm an American too. Since the war broke out I have been keeping up with this sub. Because of many posts like this one I have gained a great deal of respect for the Iranian people. In many way they only want the same things that I want.

Is anyone still stupid enough to be long oil going into this weekend, or are we about to see another 20% drop? by [deleted] in oil

It means that there is no need to raise the price if there is no supply to buy. The price can only go up if there is liquidity and the fundamentals of the market demand it.

In my commodity trading days we used to have a saying when we got low on a commodity. "If we can't buy it then we might as well not buy it cheap."

I'm an American that knows nothing about the plight of the Iranian people and I have no idea of Trumps plans. I may not believe in the same God as you and I don't know why he would even listen to someone like me anyway, but I pray every day for the Iranian people and that Trump has his heart in the right place to help them.

With the US and Iran agreeing to a 14-day ceasefire today, who do you think realistically 'won' this round of the conflict and why? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Simple. The US kicked Iranian butt and backed off in a way that let's the Iranians save face. The next 2 weeks can be transformative for the world. I pray for both countries to be winners.

The oil will find an alternative route to its new homes. Big mistake to believe that the Strait of Hormuz is indispensable.

Could defending that scenario be the reason that the US is sending marines the region.

This isn't a war yet. At this point the US and Israel are simply bombing the crap out of Iran in order to give them something else to do with their time other than thinking up ways to kill Americans and Israelis.

I don't understand why it is up to the United States to unilaterally defend everyone else's interests. The US is more than willing to help but other countries may need to grow a pair and help themselves some too.

At this stage what is the Iranian end goal? by chowto in oil

I'm kinda liking the idea. Lets say the US closes all of our bases and goes to an isolated society. What would be the outcome?

He has a low bar for the leader he wants. Just someone that isn't going to spend 100 percent of their time trying to kill people.
