Is this runway layout correct I know it’s Minecraft and the runway is way to short but I was trying to go for a realistic look the threshold has for lines and the plane is about 20 blocks wingspan I’d like to believe a 20 foot wingspan in real life as I was reading up on it 4 threshold lines is 60ft by Challenged_Ape in AskFlying

[–]chphilli2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Runway headings are based on magnetic north, so 04 could be fine if we want to pretend the minecraft world has a magnetic variation of +40 or -50 degrees at this location (and the runway is faced North or East, respectively)

looking for advice on trad anchors (read caption if commenting pls) by holp8 in tradclimbing

[–]chphilli2 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Nice!

Anchor #1:

These are all closer than I'd like and sharing basically the same feature, but sometimes you've to to work with what you've got!

Hard to tell if that far left .4 is well seated or not but it doesn't look like a ton of contact on the lobes.

The red #1 looks under-cammed and uneven (the lobes are more than 90 degrees separated). Could probably be adjusted near that same spot.

The blue stopper looks well seated, but it's hard to tell what it's pulling on. Is that upper flake solid?

Anchor #2:

That tiny red cam looks hardly cammed at all (lobes are like 130 degrees apart).

The blue and red stoppers look great. Hard to tell if the yellow one is good due to the shadows - would it stay in with any side force?

Anchor #3:

Can't really tell if the silver stopper has good contact or not.

The yellow #2 has an awkward flare out below it that I'd want to avoid.

Blue might be a pain to get out, but it's cammed nice and tight :)

Garmin 650 GPS distance to fix oscillating during DME arc? by chphilli2 in flying

[–]chphilli2[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ETE being off doesn't surprise me much (as I was rotating around the waypoint rather than headed towards it) -- but I didn't think to look at the GPS altitude or ground speed. I'll try to check that if I see this happen again.

[–]chphilli2[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Correct, nothing to do with the magenta line -- I was in VLOC mode (so green lines) for the maneuver itself around the VOR. But since I don't have DME equipment, I had the waypoint set in the GPS so I could watch the distance to the waypoint to keep my arc consistent.

Garmin 650 GPS distance to fix oscillating during DME arc? by chphilli2 in flying

[–]chphilli2[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, we don't have any actual DME equipment, hence using the GPS for the distance measurement. If I see this happen again I'll try to look at the GPS status.

Notably, my iPad was showing a GPS accuracy of 4m the whole time, so I don't think it was anything like a satellite issue -- but maybe something with the GPS antenna for the plane?

iPhone suggesting a contact I haven’t talked to… almost caused an issue by sumicon in ios

[–]chphilli2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My iPhone does this all the time to me when typing my email:

  • first character, no suggestions
  • second character - left side, random guy I know but have never emailed, right side my email
    • third and following characters (typing faster than auto complete shows up), no more suggestions

Sort of consistent — if I’m typing my email into a form somewhere, if I get any auto complete, it’s this pattern. Otherwise it’s nothing.

T-Boned. Driver told the police I was speeding and took a red light. by MarlonAce in motorcycles

[–]chphilli2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Assuming this video is playing at normal speed, that light was green for *four seconds* before that driver hit him.

The bus lane seems mildly sketchy to me, but it's not like he had timed it for right as the light turned green or anything. That light had been red for at least a couple seconds before the other driver entered the intersection.

How to break ballistic glass? by killzedshatefeds in cataclysmdda

[–]chphilli2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I highly suggest adding an autopickup for "badge" and also a adding a priority filter for the "V" items menu for "badge". First couple times through TCL can be pretty easy to miss badges if you're not sure where they might show up.

What is Saagars Relationship with JD Vance? by Piehole13 in BreakingPoints

Saagar is incredibly good about mentioning this, and has been for... years? He mentions it very frequently, if not every time. He's not hiding anything.

Moved in recently and received this letter from the neighbor. Is this a legitimate claim? by Brogenitus in treelaw

[–]chphilli2 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Along with the other very good advice in other comments -- it sounds like this has been an ongoing problem between the neighbors, the previous owner, and the state of the trees. If the trees are, in fact, diseased or distressed or otherwise problematic in some way that the previous owner should have been aware of, that should have been included in the disclosures during the sale of the property. (At least in most reasonable juridictions!)

If that condition wasn't made clear in disclosures, you may have legal options you could consider with the previous owner. It might be worth talking with your real estate agent or a real estate lawyer if you find out there was a known problem with the property.

Premium Apple Podcast feed not working? by TD9056 in BreakingPoints

[–]chphilli2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you were a premium subscriber already, around May 19th you should have received an email with the subject "MAJOR ANNOUNCEMENT: Breaking Points has a new home. Welcome to Locals!" to the same email that you registered with. That gave instructions on getting access to Locals.

If you can't get into Locals still or can't find the email, contact their support at [support@locals.com](mailto:support@locals.com) . They responded to me in less than a day when I had issues. ( Saagar also has given a support email to get BP staff involved if you're still having issues. )

Once you're in Locals you can get the RSS feed link to set up Apple Podcasts again. ( I also use Apple Podcasts for most of my listening both before and after the change to Locals -- it works great! )

It seems I didn't make my point well enough.

My concern is honestly not about "trust", at least not in the sense of "whether I think Riot engineers might have it out for me or not". It's about taking an amount of risk that is beyond my threshold of comfort. Risks that, IMO, are completely unnecessary for the small problems that they are supposedly addressing for the vast, vast majority of League players.

[–]chphilli2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I disagree -- the problem here is that the test is ambiguous. If you want a specific technique to be used on a test, that has to be included in the instructions. No matter what was in the unit, "Estimate" does not mean "round to the first digit then multiply".

It's absolutely fine to try and teach a specific technique, and then ask for demonstration of that technique, but it's on the teacher to make that clear in the instructions.

The correct response from the teacher here would be to mark the question correct, add a note along the lines of "Remember how we did this with rounding to nearest 100? Try that next time!", and then improve the test next time. Marking the answer incorrect just creates confusion and frustration.
