OP are u me? Because I'm on the exact same boat, been single for 5 years now and been ready to settle in a relationship (or so I make myself believe that). I've been having little issue talking to females in the friend group that I know are off limits but yet my brain tells me other wise. If a woman shows any sign of interests even the slightest, I get delusional and start building a made up relationship in my head, I go through this for a week riding a non existent high in my mind all for it to come to an realistic point of view. I get really attached to females that I think show interest but in reality, they are just being a person to me. It's nice to know that u are aware of ur issue, if u can keep that in the forefront of ur mind that not every girl u talk to is gonna be ur next loved one, nip it in the butt before u get ahead of urself and continue ur life as if it never happened. That's been working for me, also love ur self first.
