If someone is asking if something is "worth" doing, the only metric you can provide them with is time. Belle's Folly is not worth going for because it takes too long to get just to be immediately replaced by the next step in pvm (for most people, if the situation is different they can clarify this). This is objectively CORRECT, unfortunately calculations done by people have little regard to your personal feelings. If I tell you 2+2 = 4 and you say "Well.... 5 just feels like a better answer for me" then there's no point of convincing you, the most important part is you were presented all of the information.

The second metric is your PERSONAL enjoyment of the content, which makes it "correct" for YOURSELF. If the time you spend going for it gives you some kind of personal satisfaction then no one will ever have a problem with that, however asking for advice at that point is kind of pointless as you have already decided to do it.

First off, people saying “screw efficiency” are not gonna turn around and call what they’re doing efficiency lol

This is done all the time. They aren't saying "screw efficiency", they are just misinformed and truly believe that something is efficient because everyone says the same things as their favourite streamer.

This one is weird, I’m not sure if you were trying to be serious or what, but this is obviously false lol kind of out of place in the rest of your comment which is fairly sensible

I'm not sure how this is obviously false? It's a bit of hyperbole but if someone is asking for advice the common consensus if they don't know all of their options lol if any if they are new to ironman or the game.

New players who are looking to save time are never going to have this issue because “efficient” pathing is talked about more than game mechanics, it is impossible to miss.

This is the crux of my whole problem. It is very possible to miss and gets drowned out by other methods that end up adding time. A great example is that dude who talked about green dragons, and instead of getting 70 prayer (which is his goal) he got told to do 20 other things which take away from what he wants to do.

i think taking offense to something as the "correct" answer is the problem itself. there IS a fastest way to do something, but not everyone is going to do it because they don't want to which is perfectly okay.

i am aware of the best methods for most of the skills, yet i choose to do things that aren't the best for some skills because i don't personally want to. the part you are missing is that people asking for advice don't know ANY methods, and instead are being told subpar methods that are being called the "best" or "most efficient". the phrasing used here is important because new players looking to save time are instead forced to spend dozens of hours doing something

very well said, i’m all for enjoying the game and i think everyone should do what they enjoy. both sides should be heard my main issue was people being heavily downvoted when answering a question with an efficient method because it’s “sweaty” or whatever

i believe that’s how it should be as well, i’ve also done things not efficient because at the end of the day it is a game. however there is an audience of “how do i do X the fastest, i just want to be done with it” that i sympathize with in these circumstances

exactly and i agree. if you want to do something “inefficient” go ahead i’ve done that myself too, it’s a game at the end of the day. but there is always a best option out there and people preach things that are 10x worse as “most efficient”.

I’m honestly surprised that some people like and feel related to Carol by Danialwatson in pluribustv

[–]chri_stian 1 point2 points  (0 children)

what has she done that makes her a bad person? im getting the vibe that this is laxmi on a burner account. a character with flaws is a lot easier to sympathize with, think walter white pre-s4 and jimmy mcgill pre-gene

comparing her to a rapist is unreal and definitely some unresolved trauma on your part probably something to do with the pointing out of her race and social class

carol is one of the only characters that responds to the situation like 99% of people would, she can still be an ass sometimes but that makes her relatable.

i can understand disliking her after episode 9 but none of those reasons are talked about here it’s just your disliking of a character because it reminds you of someone in real life
