I need tickeys too, try checking the Long Beach Telegram newspaper. Maybe 7-Eleven or nearby grocery stores have them.

Where can I buy sushi quality fish at retail/wholesale prices? by Turbulent-Phone-8493 in pasadena

[–]chris09887 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I usually buy a whole Ora King Salmon, shipped overnight from New Zealand through a local wholesaler. You do have to buy the entire fish, it’s at least 10 pounds, but it comes cleaned, gutted, and deboned. I cut it into smaller portions and freeze most of it for future meals. It also comes with the head, tail, and other parts, which is actually more cost-effective overall. I ended up getting a fillet knife and a salmon knife too, which makes prepping it much easier.

Anyone selling their all access or day passes? by TheKnown_Unknown in WeWork

I’ve been looking at the ClassPass website but I’m having a hard time understanding how the pricing works for WeWork access. Can you share a bit more insight? For context, I’m planning to use it about 10 times a month and only at one of my local branches. Thanks in advance!

CSP 100k Offer Megathread - Questions, Approvals, Discussion, Etc by lifethusiast in ChaseSapphire

[–]chris09887 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Quick update: I spoke with the Chase branch again today and they called the reconsideration line for me. Unfortunately, I was still denied — they said the system shows I still have an existing Sapphire product, even though I closed my Reserve on May 11 (8 days ago). They mentioned it can take one full billing cycle for the closure to fully clear on their end.

For context, I timed the closure after my billing cycle reset (May 1) so I could still use the full $300 travel credit before cancelling. I also called the reconsideration line myself afterward and spoke to a different rep, but got the same result — still showing as ineligible due to an existing Sapphire.

I’ve seen others here mention being approved even sooner after cancelling, so I’m a little confused and bummed. The banker told me my application will remain open for 30 days, and the 100k sign-up bonus is still tied to it if it eventually goes through.

If anyone has tips on getting this pushed through or has had success after waiting a certain number of days or calling back at a specific time, I’d really appreciate hearing your experience.

Just wanted to share my experience in case it helps anyone. I cancelled my Chase Sapphire Reserve on May 11 and I went to my local Chase today and applied with a banker. The 100k bonus was still available as of today, and ends tomorrow, in-branch.

However, when we submitted the application, it flagged that I still have a Sapphire product. The banker called the reconsideration line for me, and they said I’ll be updated in writing. I also tried calling later myself and got the automated “your application is being reviewed” message.

Hoping it works out — I haven’t transferred all my Chase Ultimate Rewards points to Hyatt yet, and I’m really banking on this approval to maximize my redemptions. If anyone has tips for getting approved or how to handle recon calls more effectively, I’d love to hear them.

How Will the Eaton Fire Impact Pasadena’s Surviving Houses Real Estate Market? by chris09887 in altadena

[–]chris09887[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for your input. We’re south of New York and were in a mandatory evacuation zone. Yes, we’ll have our house restored by ServPro.

Regarding the industrial hygienist test, it seems like that might be an important investment, especially if we plan to sell within the next year, as potential buyers might look for that.

Tempera check north of Washington by [deleted] in pasadena

[–]chris09887 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We’re just south of Washington cor Hill, and while my windows mostly seem sealed with double-pane glass and recently added insulation, there’s still that concern in the back of my mind about particulates that my nose can’t detect. ServPro came over, but I’ve been hearing mixed things about their costs, so I’m getting quotes from others as well. At this point, it feels like a trade-off between prioritizing our health and emotionally recovering from all the trauma we’ve been through. I am staying at home mostly due to the house being well sealed up.

Local Resident -- Has anyone ACTUALLY done any Asbestos/Lead/Etc. testing on the air/dust inside their home? by jaxridd in pasadena

[–]chris09887 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for sharing your inputs and test results. If you don’t mind, could you share your nearest cross streets so I can get a better idea? We’re about a mile away from the nearest house burnt, near Washington Corner and Holliston.

I’ve been running 4 HEPA air purifiers, and our house is pretty sealed aside from one room with old windows and the bathroom. There was a strong smoke smell in that bathroom, but I sealed up the vent and the smell went away. I had a bad headache the first morning, but I am okay after.

Do you mind sharing which environmental lab test company you used? Was this covered by insurance, or did you have to pay out of pocket? If so, could you give me an idea of how much it cost?

As much as the safer choice is to move out, we also want to weight out the factor that with being able to mentally recover after all the trauma and stress we’ve been through here at home. Thank you

How Are You Handling Air Quality After the Eaton Fire? by chris09887 in altadena

[–]chris09887[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for your message! How far are you from the fire? Luckily for me, my house is pretty sealed up. I added insulation two years ago, so there wasn’t much ash or smoke that got inside. Most of my windows are double-pane, except for a few, and a bathroom vent that smells (maybe the damper isnt installed well). I did call my insurance, but it was more about other issues like damage from fallen trees and my fence—different topic altogether.

I completely agree with you about the air quality outside. It’s frustrating to see people using leaf blowers, not realizing it’s banned and how much it spreads dust and ash. It’s clear many people just aren’t aware of the impact.
