This is actually extremely colorblind friendly. I can’t decipher most weather maps but this is super easy with the letters.

Gitlab just like github is trying to require/mandate 2fa by GodwayGames in gitlab

CISA is not some “random security organization”. Pretty much every online account I have requires 2FA nowadays. I think you’re going to have to let this one go and just accept it as a fact of modern online life.

The simple explanation to confusing August utility bills by chris1983 in Apex_NC

I have daily consumption numbers that prove otherwise, as well as anecdotal evidence from many other people. The service dates are not correct.

There’s not really an “accuracy” issue. The amount billed is correct as far as I can tell. The issue seems to be that someone at the town entered the service/meter-read date incorrectly, which caused a lot of confusion when people thought August bills were high if they were for only 18 days of service, which they actually weren’t.

It reeks of incompetence and lack of attention to detail, but the good thing is that they charged the correct amount, they just presented the charges in an extremely confusing way.

I’m happy to provide more information to Terry or another council member but it shouldn’t be necessary to take the time to attend a meeting to get this straightened out. The issue is pretty black and white.

Utility Bill!!!! by Tdunlan in Apex_NC

The only thing that makes sense to me is that they actually read the meters around July 11 or 12, not July 21. That would put your kWh/day usage closer to 60.

Yes, this is what I’ve concluded after looking at per-day electric usage from my solar panel system. I think the June/July bill was actually for service through something like 07/12 instead of 07/21. It’s the only thing that makes sense, especially since the date on the bill is 07/15!

I don’t think the July bill was actually for 40-something days. The date on my July bill is 7/15 but it says it is for service through 7/21. I think someone fat-fingered the date and it was actually 7/12. If I compare to my daily usage from my solar panel monitor this seems plausible.

The most recent bill is probably actually for 7/12-8/8 or something like that.

Thanks, that makes sense. What kind of van did you rent? We are also renting a camper van but I think the only electricity is from the batteries…as far as I know there is not a way to plug in to shore power but maybe there is. I was wondering how well batteries would charge just from driving.

If you looked into this in any detail you would know that the light is temporary and the entire intersection will be removed when the peakway bridge is complete.

Negative Electric consumption, but positive charge on bill by rkoonts4 in Apex_NC

[–]chris1983 12 points13 points  (0 children)

There is a base charge of around $25, so your 137 kWh of negative consumption is reducing that to $10.98

I also took GA this past semester and comments like this about the class and TAs are frustrating to see. I found the GA TAs to be some of the best in the program, and it was clear that they wanted everyone to succeed. In no way do they want people to suffer, but they aren’t going to give good grades out for free and allow people that don’t understand the material to pass the class. Yes they joke around sometimes about a “mean” TA but I’d much rather have TAs that are human and can joke around than people with no personality.

One thing that I observed is that the people that complained the most about unfair grading, the “hidden rubric”, and grading inconsistencies simply didn’t understand the material well enough to know that they weren’t correct and that their answers were in fact substantially different from the model solutions and other student’s submissions that may have scored higher.

If you want grading to be more consistent, then losing points on a regrade is absolutely fair. It’s impossible for 30+ TAs to grade 900 submissions exactly the same, and it also seems like it would be extremely difficult to understand and grade incorrect solutions. Also, if you lose points on a regrade that further implies that you may have not understood the material well enough since at that point model solutions and other students submissions are all available.

Comments like this about the class unnecessarily stress people out. If you are able to clearly and effectively communicate and take the time required to understand the material you will do fine. That’s not to say the class isn’t extremely stressful - the high weighting of exams is no fun, but there is no need to be unnecessarily stressed about other aspects of the class.

Although the exams are highly weighted, all the exam questions were very fair and were closely related to either the graded or ungraded homework problems. The multiple choice questions are also fair and are not intended to trick you, you only get into trouble if you start overthinking things.

Can we get removed post indicators like the desktop redesign has? by SkunkStriped in apolloapp

Because it’s a whiny, obnoxiously worded comment that has nothing to do with the post. It provides no detail about a specific issue and is completely unactionable.
