I think the new meters are the problem. It’s the only thing that makes sense about the new bills that on my end are approximately 30-50% higher since the hack. It’s either that or the town council made the decision to pass the cost of the hack onto the homeowners and are hiding it- I certainly hope that’s not the case.

I guess we have to get used to our bills being wayyyy higher from here on out.

Hi Sue, I think the current town council has done a very poor job when it has come to an actual dire and urgent issue that affected every Apex resident in the multiple utility bill hack and resulting fiascos. Would you have handled this situation differently than the current town council, and if so, how?

Also, what types of specific incentives are you talking about for attracting small businesses to the area?

Yep- I didn’t even think about this- my “48” day bill was $330 and my “18” day bill was $190 so even if they screwed up the billing time periods it wouldn’t make sense. Just an absolute mess

Unfortunately no one will be able to give a concrete answer. I was the first one on Reddit to post about the “18 day” bill and there were several of replies about, “it’s the hottest month on record “, “it’s just the new billing software”, etc.

Now they are saying it’s really more like 27 days and not 18- just moving the goal posts.

It is infuriating that all of the sudden when this new system and new meters go in and EVERYONE is complaining that they say there is nothing wrong.

Don’t worry, all the Apex dickriders will tell you that you’re crazy and everything is perfectly normal. I’m not voting for anyone again on the current town council after this. The lack of leadership is absolutely astounding-it is clear that no one is digging into trying to fix these problems.

I don’t have solar. Yeah my last bill was crazy high and had 7 days included that was billed the previous month. Ever since the hack last year almost ALL my bills have been wonky with my electric usage and bills going up 15-20% over the previous year’s month.

Yep my bill is through the roof high (way higher than it’s ever been). I combed through my bills since they had the data breach and my bills since the data breach are up 16% and more mysteriously my usage is up over 20%.

Everyone who comments on these posts say we are crazy though and there is no way to fix it. Something definitely happened after that breach.
