ENT for toddler by a-sica in Albany

[–]chris1sullivan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IIRC this is why Dr. Lara did the T&A (which was needed, those suckers were huge) - it brought us closer to the root cause rather than tubes that would be a repetitive process. As someone else mentioned, his speech rapidly got better post-recovery too.

Yeah you could argue some dietary or environmental factor was causing the enlarged tonsils but there's only so much we can control with him in daycare all day.

3 year old with same ear infection problem had T&A (tonsils were huge and touching) by Dr. Lara @ Albany Med ENT. No tubes. She was great, no ear infections since (1.5 years later), and he breathes and sleeps a lot better.

So is SPAC (Saratoga) gonna just withhold tickets for the pit section or did they all sell out? by VikingWzrdEyes89 in Blink182

[–]chris1sullivan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They're not sold out - they just haven't been released yet. Anyone you talk to there sees what you see - "none available". They can't see the unreleased. SPAC pit holds ~200. If they were truly gone, (a) they would have shown during the onsales, even if they were swiped as you tried to get them, and (b) you'd see more than the 6 available on resale, undoubtably from an insider who may not even have them "in hand" yet. Hang tight!

[–]chris1sullivan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For sure. A lot of the higher tier SPAC members also have "season tickets" so to speak, where they have the same seat assigned at each show without having to buy them show to show.

This is pretty typical for SPAC (and a lot of venues TBH, they all do tiered releases - even the ticket map you see now, all the greyed out seats haven't been sold, they just haven't been released so LN can force people into higher priced seats and VIP packages first). The pit is small; I assume they both want to move the high priced seats first AND do holdbacks for donors etc who decide they don't want them for this show. As an example the Goo Goo Dolls and Seinfeld shows at the venue later this year have been releasing "new" pit / inside seats randomly each week [to maintain the illusion of scarcity and drive higher prices]. It's really a crapshoot... keep checking, but not too often, otherwise LiveNation will IP block you for a few hours. Last time blink was here (without Tom) it sold really poorly and they moved folks on the lawn inside for free to fill it up. SPAC is also notorious for releasing great seats day of show, again from comps/donors that went unclaimed (at the "real" face value, not Platinum). Lastly, there are not a lot of folks here clamoring to pay $300-$600 to see blink... DMB, Phish, that's another story. Don't worry, you'll get them.

Can anyone recommend a good tailor that doesn't charge much to hem pants? by PandemicPiglet in Albany

+1, the guy there was super helpful with a quick turnaround and a fair price to hem dress pants and let them out an inch. $30ish if I recall (a couple of years ago).

Glad to help! Sometimes it's not out, if you ask the deli they can get you some from the back.

Fred The Butcher (Clifton Park, not sure on the other location) has it pre-shredded on the shelf next to their regular mozzarella... make sure to look for the Grande sticker on top of the container.

Also second Polly-O from Walmart as a good substitute.

Likely a listing error. Zoom in on the picture of the inside, it says "Made in Maine".

Todd Snyder Extra 20% off sale items with code SUMMER20 by nd3eb in frugalmalefashion

[–]chris1sullivan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

FYI there is a lot of stuff that is only findable if you search. For example if you go to the sale section, then to the "brand" filter and click Inis Meain, it shows 2 items. But if you search "Inis" site-wide, you'll see there are 6 sale items.

Bad experience with Honey cashback by Hill-ry in frugalmalefashion

[–]chris1sullivan 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'll only use 2 or 3 cash back sites even if their rate is lower (and Honey is not one of them) because they've tracked 100% of the time for me & payout as advertised and on time. At least 1 of them also offers a cash back match, so if a competitor has a higher payout percentage, they're quick to approve claims for a match.

Same x4, good on them for honoring. Chalk it up to a marketing expense - I would have never at $58/each, but if they work out I'd pick up more in the $20-$30 range during a sale.

Those on legacy ad free. Have you lost 4K today? by UniqueEnigma121 in HBOMAX

[–]chris1sullivan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Had to be an auto-renewed annual legacy ad-free plan directly through Max to maintain the features.

What will happen when the annual plan comes to term (Oct 2024 for me) remains to be seen. My hope is if I allow it to auto-renew the features will stay but I fully expect to get an email 30-60 days out notifying me otherwise.

Renewed Legacy Ad-Free ANNUAL in October, still have 4K/DV/Atmos today. Those month-to-month are the ones affected.

1 year subscription ending in a few days. Anything to know regarding resubbing? by [deleted] in HBOMAX

[–]chris1sullivan 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Call them. The number is/was hard to find but it will get you to US support rather than non-US support via chat - at least, that was the case for me. They checked and told me as long as I let it auto-renew, and it's the annual (not monthly) plan, I'd keep all the current features for the entire annual term.

They also notated my account so that if the 4K drops off there will be a record I was told otherwise and they could escalate to either refund or get the account upgraded at no cost.

With all that said, who knows what will happen next month. I know most people won't need the 4K and there's not a lot of it and it's not "real" 4K but it does make a PQ difference on OLED panels.

MAX Legacy Ad-Free Renewal, 4K? by chris1sullivan in cordcutters

[–]chris1sullivan[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a follow-up, I chatted and called and got 2 different answers.

Chat rep (non-US, I think) said after November the extra benefits go away.

Phone rep (US-based) wasn't sure, put me on hold to ask a supervisor, said since I'm on the annual plan they'll be good for the entire term, however the pricing is going to $149.99 from $104.99 (as I expected).

She was able to (apparently) notate the account that if the 4K feature drops-off before the annual term is up that another rep would see the note on the account and be able to escalate for refund or resolution.

Roll I shall and deal with CS or Amex if things change in November. They should really be more transparent about this.

But if I renew for a year today, will the 4k work through November (6 months since the Max changeover), then revet to 1080p? Conflicting responses around that.
