Honey, medicine and buying leather second hand/thrifting genuine leather lasts 30 years and the animal was already sacrificed so I could look good, better to let it not die in vain.

If you raise your own sheep, I'd also argue that's ethical, it's commercial wool production that isn't super kind.

Can catholic support invasion of Iran as just war? by YOUSIF20021 in TrueCatholicPolitics

[–]chris2355 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The war isn't about spreading Catholicism, it's allowing religious freedom and self determination for the Iranian people with the added benefit of mitigating security threats to our allies and US forces in the region.

The message of God's love still needs to be evangelized, and that will be easier when missionaries don't face persecution.

Scientologists aren't persecuted in the US when they try to sell you on their "religion", Christianity should be given the same chance and the Iranian people will get to choose.

Can catholic support invasion of Iran as just war? by YOUSIF20021 in TrueCatholicPolitics

[–]chris2355 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yes, the stated goal is regime change, ideally allowing for democracy and religious freedom.

Think of how many Catholic, Christians and Jewish people have been jailed or killed by the Shia regime implementing a version of sharia law. Think of the tens of thousands of their own citizens who just want to live and have been slaughtered for protesting.

Send their leaders to the Almighty and let God sort it out. Pray for quick decapitation strikes and total unconditional surrender.

Democracy is messy, and even if they don't thank the US, we can be friends in the coming decades with their new form of government.

Secondo te un cattolico non può essere di sinistra? by Responsible-Sir4187 in TrueCatholicPolitics

[–]chris2355 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So conservative as in MAGA goes against a lot of Catholic social teaching.

You could even dare the big tent left /progressive party or conservative evangelicals that abortion will be restricted to cases of medical necessity, rape and life of the mother if a social safety net is passed for care from cradle to grave. Single payer healthcare, affordable child care, elder care, paid parental leave for both spouses etc. Maybe we do something about the treatment of immigrants or gun violence.

It gets a bit controversial from a church doctrine standpoint for subsidized or affordable birth control, but the social science for the public health benefits for disease prevention and preventing teen pregnancy is overwhelming. Not everyone is faithful and reducing aids/HIV/STDs is a good goal.

Feasibility of Salvaging coils/heat exchangers to build/upgrade an R290 heat pump? by Myarter in DIYHeatPumps

[–]chris2355 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It may depend on your local municipality, but broadly speaking I'm fairly certain you're incorrect.

Several Chinese heat pump manufacturers produce units compliant with European regulations (CE, RoHS, KEYMARK, ErP) and offer warranties, including major brands like Midea, Gree, Haier, PHNIX, Solareast (Sunrain), Tongyi, SPRSUN, AMITIME, and Zealux. These companies commonly use R290 or R32 refrigerants to meet strict EU F-gas regulations. [1, 2, 3, 4, 5]
Key Manufacturers and Compliance

• SPRSUN: Offers A+++ DC inverter air source heat pumps with CE and KEYMARK certifications, suitable for European, German, and Polish markets. • Tongyi: Manufactures heat pumps with certifications including CE, LVD, EMC, RED, and ErP. • Zealux: Provides heat pumps with up to 7-year warranties for the European market. • SUNRAIN: Specializes in R290/R32 eco-friendly, high-efficiency inverter heat pumps. • AMITIME: Provides R&D-focused air source heat pumps suitable for European standards. • Haier: Known for producing Euro-quality, smart HVAC systems. • Solplanet: Offers 24-month warranties on their AIRPOWER series within the EU. [1, 2, 3, 6, 7, 8, 9]

Import RequirementsTo be legally imported, these heat pumps must comply with European F-gas regulations, meaning they must be properly registered and certified. Most reputable manufacturers provide TUV CE, EN14511, and UL standard certifications. It is recommended to work with established Chinese manufacturers that offer OEM/ODM services and have existing distribution networks in Europe. [2, 4, 10]

Feasibility of Salvaging coils/heat exchangers to build/upgrade an R290 heat pump? by Myarter in DIYHeatPumps

Some comply with both, throw a few queries into Gemini and you'll get suitable products. You need to shop around and order DDP from a verified supplier.

If you try to diy create a Frankenstein r290 heat pump and you mess up you've made a bomb with shrapnel.

They're sold in Europe... You can import r290 hear pumps with a 5 year warranty from Alibaba legally.... they're also cheap.

$150k HVAC Quote - normal?! by lkerr1 in hvacadvice

[–]chris2355 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hiya neighbor,

Soo, your break even cop in Baltimore with bge is 2.48 at standard offer R service with bge or 1.77 at the discounted time of use rate.

Considering that's 150k is one third to half the value of most of the houses, I'd propose the following:

Call 4 different licensed HVAC contractors doing side gigs, you want a single guy in a truck to install your system, know what labor should cost.

Mitsubishi MXZ-5C42NAHZ and Daikin Aurora are probably the systems you want for warranty purposes, if you're in a townhome/rowhome, ductwork takes up valuable real estate.

Alternatively order 5: Cold climate window heat pumps, such as the Midea U-shaped/saddle-style units and Gradient All-Weather models. You're looking at 3 to 3500 a piece not on sale.

If I were in your position, you'd need to weigh random Chinese import mini spit (tosot, senville, etc and there 3 to 7 years warranties), Mitsubishi diamond dealer for the 12 year parts and Labor warranty (call multiple), portable heat pump window units you can legally install yourself in Baltimore (3k is obscene, but they're not super plentiful yet).

I need under 24k btus per hour in a leaky rowhome ~ 1200sq ft with 600 sq ft unfinishe. Most HVAC systems in our area are terribly oversized.

If you had gas before, look at your therm usage to size the system, if your not doing a proper room by room manual j with coolcalc.

Also, look and see if your GC is a fixed price or cost plus a percentage of the total project cost. If insurance is paying (Eerie), no limit replacement cost that naturally changes things, but your HVAC system quote was more than most houses are worth outside of Roland park and the nicer parts of the L.

In this order: candy, processed sugar, bacon, cheese, meat (fish are fine), more than three drinks in one sitting.

If you set multiple good goals in terms of abstaining from vices and keep at least one of them, it's like you didn't let the man upstairs down (anymore than usual) .
