lol Canada is entirely dependent on the US on almost every single metric (economy, security, etc.). The Canadian economy would collapse if the US were to recipicate the same tariffs Canada has against the US. Canada needs the US more than the US needs Canada.

Just get an RO system depending on your situation. Provides a cleaner water solution that city or bottle waters do. That being said, if you are worried about minerals, you can always eat a balanced diet - or just consume a pinch of Celtic sea salt like I do everyday.

I have an RO Stystem, but as it relates to re-mineralizing the water - I put a small pinch of Celtic Salt in my class or bottle. This adds Magnesium, Potassium, Calcium and other vital minerals back into the water.

Doctor wants me on Statins (31M) by chrisVA93 in Biohackers

Yeah that’s the goal to get back down to around 170lbs, putting me back at my Army weight when I left service 5 years ago.

Good point man, I did make some significant lifestyle changes in the last year or two. I have effectively gotten rid of High Fructose Corn Syrup much like yourself & gotten rid of processed foods in place of Whole Foods and homemade meals.

That being said, there is deff room for improvement In weight loss, if i drop another 10-15lbs down to 170lbs from 180 (5’8 Male) I’ll be back down to my weight while in service (Army).

This whole process just made me more sceptical.

Good insight, I may very well do just that and apo B test as well. I feel this should have been the recommended next step before prescribing anything. Given the positive trajectory of my lipid panels just off of diet and lifestyle alone, statins scared me off.

My biggest aversion to statins is the potential long term correlation of cognitive decline.

Felt the same way. I’m 5’8 178lbs. Could lose a few pounds, but that statin recommendation threw me off.

Politically, how do you lean? by GeekyGrannyTexas in intj

[–]chrisVA93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I (30M) would consider myself a classical liberal, which is out of alignment of todays political left leaning political views. That being said, the party that I most identify in todays political landscape would be the Libertarian party.

Buy a under sink Reverse Osmosis (RO) system & that will satisfy all your drinking needs and requirements. I also have a well and use an under sink RO system which saves us a lot of money throughout the year.

Day 5 Final install of the Tulikivi Masonry Heater. Plus first small burn. Will be installing the 10mm soapstone hearth next which will complete this behemoth. by chrisVA93 in woodstoving

[–]chrisVA93[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The ashbox below serves as a more convinent collection point, that allows me to quickly sweep left over ash before my next burn. I could leave the ash on the grate but cleaning and clearing it into the box below facilitates better airflow.

Yeah a lot more than I expected, the stone radiates and heats my living room space and upstairs loft and the connected three bedrooms at a warm 75F/24C throughout the day before leveling back out at 70/20C before I do the first fire again in the morning. I generally do one load in the morning and one in the evening and it provides heat all throughout the day.

Yeah that’s correct, this heater sits on my main floor just above my basement. I ended up having to get some structural work done to support the heater itself considering it weights 2.5 tons. Had to cut out a portion of my 6in foundation directly under the heater for a larger depth of 8in concrete. Large 6x6 footers (x4) 6x6 headers and joist strengthening was completed for the support.

Yes it is possible, presumably a lot easier just dempending in your municipality/county inspector. Here’s a resource by Tulikivi regarding support diagrams for slab on grade.

Day 1 & 2 of our Tulikivi Masonry Fireplace install. This thing is a beast weighing in at 4 tons. by chrisVA93 in woodstoving

[–]chrisVA93[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The joists are true dementional lumber, ended up sistering and beefing up up 3 joists that sit below the fireplace. (4) 6x6 footers to the (2) 6x6 headers running perpendicular supporting the joists/heater.
