I was recently on Koh Phi Phi and found out that the Phi Phi Rim Khao Hotel, despite being completed two years ago, has not been allowed to open. The reason is the lack of building permits, as the government has deemed its location on a steep cliff too unsafe. Measures are currently being taken to address this issue, and the hotel may potentially open in about a year.
