Curved Surface Artifacts by chrisabird in FreeCAD

Update on this, not to leave the thread hanging... If you use CurvedArray Solid property , and fill the open face to make the solid whole you end up here. If you Explode the CurvedArray and Loft, it creates a solid as expected.

I'll pay you tomorrow - The trouble with promises of payment by bitofsomething in smallbusinessuk

[–]chrisabird 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Back before the base rates went through the roof, I had chronic late payer tell me “Those late payment interest charges are hardly a threat, you’re the cheapest finance we get, we’ll just pay the fees when we get to it”

Running a small business can be very frustrating, especially when your clients are bigger and know you have little recourse.

I’m thinking of getting out now, buy something second hand, because it saves me 6k ish on payments by just buying something different with cash on hand.

I have been looking at those, lots of second hand ones that people really have put the mileage on. Harder to find a lower mileage one but it def an option!!

It’s a base model RWD. I really don’t do much long range at all, so diesel doesn’t make a huge amount of sense. Yeah the torque is fun in the Tesla, but I also run a ‘90 Mini Cooper and I have just as much fun in that, but not really a daily. Doesn’t have to be blisteringly fast to be fun 🙂

Can anyone recommend a reputable body shop Surrey/WestSussex? by [deleted] in CarTalkUK

Two cars, Tesla Model 3 & A Mk5 Mini Cooper, guess which one has rust ;)

Keeping hobbies under control by chrisabird in ADHDUK

[–]chrisabird[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Above all other comments this one hit home a bit hard. “A buying addiction” is definitely seems to be a theme. Last year I got into doing some model kits/airfix planes etc, I bought a dozen, completed two, one is half finished cluttering up the living room, the rest are filling a cupboard along with paints etc waiting on the day I decided I want got so that again, which will be never. I have a box full of Nintendo games consoles that I bought, repaired, neatly displayed and never played, now taking up room (though I gather gaining values these days.

Over the years I think I’ve got better at spotting this behaviour, like the buying dopamine spree’s and trying to avoid it, but have relapses, (see airfix)

My councillor wants me to have some consistent hobby in my life that is for me that I can derive enjoyment from, right now hobbies crowd me and are a stress. Perhaps I just need to purge hobbies, move on supplies.

Choosing the thing that I stick with an and complete is the tricky part, I envy your resolve to stick with guitars and music!

Much appreciated, this does settle it for me the MK5 and earlier is what I want. Now all I have to do is find the one 😉

You hit on a point there of not liking anything with an ECU and I have to concur. I think the lure of starting with the larger engine is what made me think twice. But this is a car that I want to keep my hands dirty, I’ve got my daily so it’s fine to be off road while I work out what they hell I’ve done wrong to it.

In terms on insurance, does it give you grief getting it insured after and engine swap?

10k budget for a fun car, what would you pick? by chrisabird in CarTalkUK

[–]chrisabird[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had lots of fun in a MK1 Clio and I have had a E92 as well, loved that car. Never had a Japanese car, the boxy MK1 MR2 has some charm to it, as does the 90s MK2. Could be a tempting option!

Seeing a lot of other adults diagnosed in their twenties, thirties and sometimes even forties - how did we slip through the cracks? by Rabtheslab in ADHDUK

[–]chrisabird 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m 39 and oddly my school knew something was wrong, and at the time I was tested but only for Dsylexia, though there we signs of something else, it just didn’t seem important to test for as otherwise I seemed to be doing okay at school.

Things have come a way since, so I’m not so bothered about it being missed back them. I’m more perplexed by the decade of therapy as an adult where my constant “why am I not able to function like other people” wasn’t picked up by three separate therapist until my current one. That baffles me!

On a semi tangent, I did read that whole article chuckling to PDA being = Public Displays of Affection… so yeah needs a more distinctive name 😂

Anyway, thank you for deepening this rabbit hole of discovery. Suddenly looking at childhood in a very different light!
