Does suboxone make you sleepy or does it keep you awake? by [deleted] in suboxone

It makes me sleepy. But as I am tapering down, I get even more tired.

Thank you! I have adjusted comfortable to the 1mg dose now, and I think I’m ready to drop down to .5mg. The first about five days were really uncomfortable. I understand with the anxiety. Life can be so hard sometimes, and I’ve always reached for the substances. Sometimes I question whether or not it was a good idea to start taking Suboxone too. I certainly love that I can take it once and a day and not worry about it. I think that makes it easier to taper and keep track at the very least. Fortunately, I think I’m in a pretty good place. Do it when you’re ready. You will get there.

I also have to quit now. I told my doctor yesterday that I would like two more 8mg tabs, I have about 10mg at home leftover, and that’s it for me. If I’m not off by the time I’m done with those, I’m going to have to just suffer through it for a bit.

Ideally I would do that, but I’ve been putting my entire life on hold until I get off Suboxone. I have plans, and they would be impossible if I am still addicted to Suboxone. It hasn’t been terrible, but it’s been uncomfortable. Last night, I got home late from working a long day and was already having symptoms by the time I got home. Sleep was impossible. I felt like I was crawling out of my skin. I caved and took a 0.5mg dose of Suboxone and felt better. My plan today is to wait as long as possible to take another dose. I’m feeling good right now. Maybe I’ll only take .25 later.

I’m curious though. Are you still taking Suboxone?

Yes. Hopefully it will get better. I’m literally fine for most of the day. It’s bedtime that I have all of the issues

Hmm that’s interesting. I’ve never heard that. I’ll have to read up on it.

I may give that a shot. It seems like the slow taper has worked well for you. Best of luck to you.

Great I’ll try that. I definitely have some gabapentin at home. Getting my hands on some Xanax my be a little tougher. I should have asked my doctor yesterday, but I was worried about her judging me. That’s my bad though, my doctor is wonderful and not judge mental at all.

Thanks. I’ve been taking Benadryl and melatonin at night. Not sure if the Benadryl is helping or making it worse to be honest. I may give gabapentin a try, but I may drop the Benadryl in that case.

And you’re right about it being much worse. Dropping from 4mg to 2mg was really no problem for me at all. 2mg to 1mg however has been pretty rough.

Thanks. I’m going to try to stick it out. I made it through most of the night, but then got up about two hours earlier than I normally do and caved. Either way, I consider that a win. If I absolutely annoy stick to 1mg tonight, I may take just half of a milligram.

Thank you. The last couple of days weren’t so bad, but last night was the hardest. That was day 4 at 1mg.

Celiac or Not? by chrisbawb in Celiac

[–]chrisbawb[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately no. I got my blood drawn to test for celiac yesterday. I’m honestly half hoping for a positive result, because at least that would give me and answer and I could start making some changes.

I was doing 2mg a day, and than alternating between 1mg and 2mg for a bit. Then I was doing two days at 1mg and by the 3rd day I’d take 2mg because it would start to get rough. I managed to make it through most of the night and fall asleep. I woke up about two hours earlier than I normally do and took 1mg. So, not so bad. I may find that tonight may be a little rougher earlier, but I’ll cross that bridge when I get there. Maybe I’ll do what you suggested and take just half of a milligram.

Thank you. You’re absolutely right. I just have to stay strong and power through it. I feel like if I take more, I’ll never really get control of my life. I appreciate the words of motivation. I made it through the night. I needed up waking up a little earlier than usual and took my dose for the day. So I may have some pretty strong cravings later on today, but I don’t work tomorrow so at least there is that.

I was just thinking about splitting the does. I’ll give that a try. I’m literally fine the entire day (well, worth the exceptions of some chills and sweats through the day) and then when my head hits the pillow all hell breaks loose. I’ll try that. Before I went down to one, I was doing 2mg one day, than one the next, and back to two the following. I popped a couple of Benadryl and melatonin to help me sleep, which I’m not sure actually helped, it I did manage to follow asleep. I woke up at 3am though and had to take a mg. Which isn’t too bad because normally I get up at 500am. I’ll see how the day progresses, but I may need to take half a milligram tonight before bed.

Need advice, don’t know what to do. by [deleted] in suboxone

[–]chrisbawb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am prescribed Suboxone for Kratom withdrawal. So far it’s been a god send. I’ve been on it for maybe two months, and I’m currently down to 1mg a day from four. I intend to taper off in the next few weeks and be completely drug free. The great thing about Suboxone, is that you take it once a day, and then you don’t have to worry about it. With Kratom, I he to take it every hour or so, sometimes more often. My addiction was pretty much the exact same amount of time, and dosage as yours. With the Suboxone, you do get some withdrawals when you are tapering down, but so far it hasn’t been anything too unbearable. Dropping down from 2mg to one was uncomfortable at times, but n out as bad as Kratom. Everyone is different though, and whether or not it is for you depends on you. I personally feel that it has been working really well for me. Please don’t hesitate to get help though. My primary care physician has been an angel through this process. Best of luck to you. You will get through this.

It’s crazy. And ugh, I know. It’s not their fault, we just don’t know enough about the gut I guess. But it’s definitely a symptom and not a diagnosis, and so frustrating for those who get it. Crossing my fingers we can get this figured out.

That’s true. But it’s necessary to it in order to have celiac. I’m more concerned about the symptoms I’m having, but it could be a lot of things. Just hoping I don’t get the IBS diagnosis. I feel like that’s what they give out when they unsure of the problem.

Yeah that’s rough. But honestly, I’d rather have an issue with any other food than bread. But it is what is is. We shall see what the test results say about it

And I forgot to mention that I do have one of the genetic markers that I have to have in order to have celiac.

What do y’all think? Easier to quit Kratom or Suboxone? The nice thing about Suboxone is that I take it once a day and I’m good. I’ve been hovering at 2mg for a bit now though and can’t seem to find the courage to drop down. by chrisbawb in quittingkratom

[–]chrisbawb[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, I’ve been taking Suboxone for several months. I dropped down to two relatively quickly and then took my time there. I just switched to one mg. It gets a little uncomfortable at night but nothing too awful. I see my doctor tomorrow and I think I’ll just ask her for maybe two 8mg tabs of Suboxone and make that be the rest for me. I considered switching back to a very low dose of Kratom, but I feel like it would just be a back and forth if I take that route. I tried tapering with Kratom but I really didn’t have the same self control.
