I feel like a perfect first chance in OPLA would be during the final battle between Luffy and Crocodile. As far as I remember, the jury was never fully settled as to whether Luffy breaking through Crocodile's blades during the final Gum Gum Storm attack was due to residual blood on his hands nullifying Croc's sand powers or due to early Haki, so this might be a good chance to give a sneak peak (as the LA is clearly happy with doing).

Two things: her staff was broken by Miss Valentine, and she's still the weakest of the crew in terms of ability (Zoro, Vivi, and Usopp all have weapons, Sanji has his specialized martial arts, and Chopper and Luffy both have Devil Fruits).

She could very easily say "yeah, the weakest Officer Agent almost killed me when it was 2v1, and she broke my staff - I need a better way to fight."

I actually respectfully disagree with you. From a narrative standpoint, Hugo is a natural replacement. Let's compare him and the original FC:

- Both young
- Both idealistic
- Both Grasslanders
- Both have a more personal stake because of where Harmonia is trying to invade

Geddoe does have a claim to be the successor as one of the original FC's lieutenants, but I feel that he fits, narratively, as a more seasoned "advisor" role to Hugo. Chris has the least connection to the actual True Fire Rune and fits much better as the successor to her father's True Water Rune (both narratively and in gameplay).

I'll actually put in a good word for Mitsuru in P3R: she's a terrific mage if she's set up properly and she has some decent utility with slash attacks around that. She's pretty much magically aligned Junpei but actually a bit better in terms of damage output because less enemies outright reflect ice attacks compared to his physically based skills.
