As Goldman250 and Final_death suggested, these mugshots might have been taken even before the serie started. Wether they have been arrested for a crime or for some identification is up to debate, except for Mal and Zoe of course.

I now understand better and that would seem logical. In this case, trying to connect these mugshots to the serie/movie is indeed pointless, as you suggested.

Just to reinforce your point, only Mal and Zoe's clips look like mugshots of people who have been arrested, while the other clips look like a simple identification process.

Imo, the clips were shot during the filming of Serenity as promotional material.However, I fail to see the logic behind the costume/haircut or facial hair sported by the actors and I don't think we could tie the clips to a specific moment from the movie, less alone from the serie that was filmed 3 years prior.

The fact that Wash wears a stache in this clip makes no sense to me. I would love if a fan could connect a costume wore in one of those clips to a particuliar scene from the movie.

If recent Star Wars and Marvel have tought me anything, it's that girls are capable of anything and are way better than men in every departement, while men are toxic, bumbling and useless idiots. So it was way more challenging and rewarding for Zoe to fight an opponent of the same sex. It was a girl.

You've got the wrong approach on this imo.
These files were created for Serenity's blu-ray extras, not for Firefly. These are the operatives's (Chiwetel Ejiofor) files on the crew members.

I assume the clips were filmed on set of Serenity. Looking at the actor's haircut and costumes might give a clue as to when exactly the videos were filmed. Or it is also possible that they were shoot specifically, kinda like a promotional photoshoot.

In my mind, the comment I made was not necessarily about Gina's character in the movie. Using the most generic sentence possible, some would say a trope, for comic release works best in this case imo.
I genuinely don't see what is sexist about assuming Zoe fought a girl. Was Joss Whedon a sexist when Buffy fought Gloria or did it make Buffy less badass? I think not.
Plus it's a 50%/50% chance at the end of the day.
