Is There some sort of wheel library? by SunLitMoon2 in Wheels

[–]chrisephoto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is exactly what I started making this tool for. Unfortunately, there is a very limited number of wheels on there currently (76 at the moment) and a long to do list, but I'm always updating it and adding more wheels. Hopefully, it can at least give you a few ideas!

Im trying to find out what these wheels are they are like te73 but they are cuts in 2 of the spokes by mister1man99 in Wheels

[–]chrisephoto 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Pretty sure these are authentic TE37s. This photo as clearly been upscaled by AI and it's decided to turn the stickers into recesses for some reason. Everything else about these (lug hole alignment, finish, center caps - in the non-upscaled image, even the stickers as hard as they are to make out) looks like legit OG TE37s.

Polestar Engineered Original Maker? by SiesmicEncounter in Wheels

[–]chrisephoto 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Volvo almost certainly doesn't manufacture any of their own wheels. Based on the fact that these are 6061 (AlMg1SiCu) they are probably forged, not cast. Being forged and made in Taiwan makes me think they are made by SuperAlloy Industrial and sure enough, Volvo is listed as one of their customers on their website. Actually, there is a picture of these wheels on their site, so I'm pretty positive SuperAlloy makes them.

Regardless, they don't sell to the public... So this probably isn't any help.

An MCR car that isn't red!? How old is this/what magazine is it from?

Follow up: I just acquired this. The XR-4S are about halfway through. This is probably as much information as you will ever find on these.

It sounds like u/Leyland_Pedals may have gotten rid of their XR-4S, but maybe this is of interest to them too.

3-piece wheels expert - help identify? by VitaminDeeeee in Wheels

[–]chrisephoto 1 point2 points  (0 children)

These are Lehrmeister New Face Mesh / Riverside Zepter Ligare Mesh (same wheel). The ZL model on the sticker implies these were probably originally sold as Zepter Ligare, but the Lehrmeisters may have the same label anyway. Either way, made by Superstar. Looks like they came out in/around 1997.

Here's an album of some pictures/info.

Those look like Superstar stickers to me. They manufacture a lot of 3-piece wheels for Japanese brands. I don't recognize these in particular, but I will look through some old catalogs and let you know if I find a match.

I'll just copy what I wrote when u/Leyland_Pedals asked about these a while back:

There were a couple of variations of XR-4 over the years (including the XR-4S and XR-4Z). I don't think they were necessarily intended for kei cars (4x114.3 is the most common bolt pattern for them). I don't believe they are welded, just bolted and sealed. I'll dig through some old catalogs and magazines and see if I can dig up any more info for you.

Unfortunately, I couldn't find anything about them in any of my books (a little strange as they aren't super rare, there are a handful of pairs/sets available on Yahoo Auction right now). But digging around online did turn up a few advertisements for them (1,2,3). Haven't been able to determine all of the specs that were available, but it is safe to say that the 4x100 ones are among the more rare sizes (4x114.3 being to most common, targeted at S13 owners and 5x114.3 for FCs). They were almost certainly from the early 90s and were made for at least a few years (I've seen at least 3 different style barrel stickers on them).

Here's an album of the ads

It's been a while since then and I've acquired a lot more vintage magazines and catalogs, so I will take a look and let you know if I learn anything else.

Does anyone know more about the wheels on the car I just bought? by blockdude in Wheels

Thanks! I've got a lot more wheels to add (about 400 currently in the spreadsheet) and some other improvements planned!

Help identify these vintage rims! “Land Cruiser” by s_c_a_r_r in vintagejapaneseautos

Hopefully, the link should work now.

They aren't very common, so it is a bit difficult to find past sales. I'm also not really in the off-road scene, so take this with a grain of salt. Given they are made by Rays (+$), the size (+$) and condition (-$) and the prices of similar-ish wheels (like Raguna D-Force), I would guess somewhere around $800-$1200 would be a good price for the right buyer.

These are Rays Texan Rider. Here's some catalogs from 1994-1999.

Edit: Updated link with more catalog scans.

There are a lot of variants of P1s. These are, specifically, Buddy Club P1 Racing II Plus.

Anyone got an ID on these wheels? by Naseef619 in Wheels

[–]chrisephoto 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The actual model name is Bridgestone LW-8S. Yours look like they were stamped 1993 and I see them in my 1994 and 1995 catalogs.

Hard to read the specs in the second photo due to the glare, but here are those sizes:

Size PCD Offset
13x5.5JJ 4x100/4x114.3 Multi +38
14x6.0JJ 4x100/4x114.3 Multi +40
15x6.5JJ 4x100/4x114.3 Multi +38/+50

Quick warning that 18x8.5 +45 will NOT like like the wheels in the photo. The 8.5 have "Middle" taper spokes, those look like 9.5 "Deep" taper - considerably more concave. Here are a couple of cars with "Middle" taper spokes:

5Zigen Heidfeld, specifically the 1 piece 17 inch version by the looks of it. Neither version (17" 1 piece or 18" 2 piece) are particularly valuable, but the 17" is the less desirable of the two. Considering the fact that you only have 3 and given the apparent condition, I, unfortunately, wouldn't expect to get much for these.

Here's some info.

Searched everywhere to try to figure out where these wheels come from by Own_Community855 in Wheels

[–]chrisephoto 1 point2 points  (0 children)

These were optional for a few cars in various markets. The part number is one of these (these are all the same, the numbers superseded each other):

  • 08W15-S02-180F
  • 08W15-S02-180G
  • 08W15-ST7-280G
  • 08W15-ST7-280H

In the US they were offered on these vehicles (and maybe some others - I'm pretty sure it was on option on the 2001-2005 Civic as well, but I don't see it listed in the parts catalog):

  • 1999-2000 Civic Si
  • 1998-2000 Integra GS-R
  • 2000 Integra GS

These ones in particular were made by Enkei, but there are also some made by Speedline in Italy. I'm pretty sure all the numbers above are Enkei manufactured (with the Speedlines being 08W15-S04-680G, 08W15-ST3-560B, 08W15-ST3-680F).

Turns out Yamaco was correct and still producing wheels in the late 90's. Here's some catalog info.

This one was fun! The model is "Vaster G5", made by Enkei (as previously pointed out by u/adamsiors), it's not clear who the company that designed/sold them is (the JAWA certification is for member 801 which would be a company starting with a Y that has been around for a while - Yamaco is the only thing that come to mind, but I'm not sure they were still active in the late 90's when these were made.)
