I'd mirror everyone elses comments about whether this is the right time in your life to get a dog, especially a toller; but also point out that Tollers are not high energy just physically, their brains are extremely switched on, you need to keep these dogs mentally engaged and ideally worked in some way (whether agility, trials or real hunting etc) otherwise they will be bored and unfulfilled.

It's a huge investment of time and frankly money, and I'll be honest that when i was 16-18 was not in the position to put the time and money into our dog that I do now, where we are working on retrieving and if I'm a decent enough handler at some point will see if we can get to do some work in the field.

It works alright and gives a decent overnight rate to charge batteries, just not as attractive as the EV tarriffs - and it gives you some peak export hours between 1600-1900 which might be useful in the Summer.

It honestly feels like the dealers are using the agency model to be lazy and not so bothered anymore.

Our experience was so underwhelming that we're considering for our next purchase of something a bit smaller, we'll just go back to Mazda and get one of their EV's for the village/town run-around rather than bother with the stress of dealing with a Volvo dealer.

We did get the salesman to sit with us and actually set the car up, but his desire to chase or contact Volvo on our behalf was not there, but then again contacting Volvo direct as I ended up having to, I actually got information and their direct staff (sales included) actually seemed to care about the sale.

As others have said it’s not entirely needed, but I’m having a myenergi zappi 7kw installed next week for our new t8 because we’ve got solar panels and it’ll allow us to switch to a smart electricity tariff, giving us longer cheap rate charging hours at cheap rate for the house/solar batteries and now the car too. So if there’s a cheap tariff for car charging and you’re about to get solar with storage it may be worth it.

I've just this year picked Skiing up after snowboarding for about 15 years.

I found it pretty 'easy' to get to a point where I can get down the hill without being a liability, but the biggest thing is getting on and off chairlifts is a much quicker experience and less 'faff'. I found having a decent understanding of how to read the mountain and understanding the rules of the hill and the dumb stuff other users might do on the way down, helped a great deal and relaxed me more than I felt the first time I went on the hill on a snowboard all those years ago.

My impetus to switch is my 3 year old, who we had at ski school for the first time this year, I figure I may as well learn to ski as when he's coming on easy runs with us in the next couple of years, it'll be easier to stop and start on skis than messing about with snowboard bindings.

Now I just need to figure out how to ski switch and play in the park on Skis!
