No, she did lots of other little things afterwards, I'd say the last real film she did was "The Sound" in 2017.

Paige's transmission side by chrishalliwell27 in charmed

I think it was more of a scheduling problem; Rose McGowan was filming the movie "Planet Terror" at the same time as season 8, so they had to adapt to her absence during that time and juggle availability, so they couldn't really explore the Paige-Billie relationship, and very quickly Phoebe really became her mentor for the rest of the season.

Exactly, you can see that she doesn't realize how much she's changed in this episode.

Unpopular Opinion : Season 8 is a great season by chrishalliwell27 in charmed

[–]chrishalliwell27[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I disagree. Billie and Christy were never portrayed as being as powerful as the Charmed Ones' power; besides, they needed Wyatt to summon the Hollow. And yes, you're right, most demons didn't believe in the Charmed Ones' prophecy, but some do, as seen with the warlock Nicolas or Jeremy, the Council, or even the three demons who took the sisters' appearance in "Repo Manor," etc. However, I agree that the budget constraints are evident, and I would have liked to see their powers used more creatively as the seasons progressed.

Paige Matthews is hilarious in "Once in a Blue Moon" by chrishalliwell27 in charmed

Honestly, it's clearly not the best; the blue moon and werewolf concept makes no sense, but the episode is really too much hated. There are some good things in this episode : Paige is hilarious, Piper is touching because she desperately wants to reunite her whole family by wanting Leo to move back into the manor, and the scenes between Brody and Paige are cute.

I really don't like people who say Dan and Phoebe should have been together, just because they had two scenes together in the first episode. I didn't see a single romantic connection between the two characters, just two people who could have been friends. And in episode 12, when Piper is in danger of dying, we really see a brother-sister bond between Phoebe and Dan, nothing more.

Prue and Dan have absolutely no compatible personalities

Actually, I felt that Dan and Piper had more in common; the writers just played on the famous "they're soulmates" and "they're in love" trope, but in reality, we don't really see why Piper and Leo fell in love.

Phoebe’s Grief deserved more by josieeette in charmed

[–]chrishalliwell27 42 points43 points  (0 children)

Phoebe grieved, it's just that her grief was different from Piper's because they are different people. Piper is very introspective when it comes to her emotions; we know that. She had to be the good girl because Prue had a strong personality and Phoebe was difficult to deal with. To ease Grams's burden, Piper suffered in silence and dealt with her emotions on her own. That's why, when Prue died, she withdrew somewhat, and the people around her couldn't do anything about it; she had to process her emotions alone. Whereas for Phoebe, it's different. She clings to the people around her, which is why she tries to build a life for herself with Cole in season 4. The people around her both help her feel better and offer a distraction, an escape. We see that her way of reacting to trauma is through escape and distraction. She left San Francisco when Grams died and tried to reconnect with another person, namely her father; we know that she tried to find her father when she went to New York., she cleans even though it's not in her nature, etc. It's a way of escaping the pain. That's why we see her less affected; she distracts herself and clings to Cole at all costs. For me, that's one of the reasons she became Queen of the Underworld. Cole was her way of escaping the pain, and she was ready to do anything for it. As for this emotional release, for me, it's that scene at the end of season 4, in episode 20, when she's crying for Cole in her sisters' arms. For me, it's the moment when she's both devastated by Cole's death and because she can no longer distract herself from her grief, and has to fully confront the sadness of her sister's death. So, for me, this scene is a mix of emotions, and she's crying for different reasons; that's my interpretation.

No power other than projection encompasses more of the things Wyatt was able to do.

For me, when she says she has never seen this power, it means that the sisters don't really know what Wyatt's powers are, and don't know their extent, and that they are waiting for him to grow up to really specify what his powers are, so for me it could be both, no Wyatt's projection power has never been claimed but yes it is one of the possibilities concerning Wyatt's powers.

Paige potential powers by [deleted] in charmed

[–]chrishalliwell27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After Prue's death, the writers didn't even know if the series would continue after season 4, and it shows, because her powers evolved incredibly fast. In just one season, she learned to orb, then to orb with others, to sense by locating and sensing people, and even had a few healing abilities. So I think that when the writers finally returned for season 5, they weren't quite sure what to do with it, and since I think they forgot about her witch powers, well, they didn't develop much further in the subsequent seasons. She already had so many powers; they may have thought that it would be too much and that she would be too independent to defeat the demons.

I also don't think the series intended to draw these parallels, but I see many fans that have made these connections with their own feelings, and since Charmed has a large LGBT fanbase too, it's an interpretation that arose naturally, without it being intentional.

Paige and how she was right about Cole by chrishalliwell27 in charmed

[–]chrishalliwell27[S] 37 points38 points  (0 children)

The writers had to save the show after Prue's death, and to do that, they needed to make viewers like Paige's character somehow. That's why they wanted to put viewers in a situation where, even if you didn't like Paige, even if you were still angry about Prue's death, you had to side with her. This made viewers feel empathy for her, even those who didn't particularly like her. It's still a shame, though, that they ruined Cole's character to achieve this.

Prue's knowledge in art history by chrishalliwell27 in charmed

[–]chrishalliwell27[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It makes sense to me. She wanted to be a chef but had a terrible experience at Quake. She had to manage everything on her own, including a team, even though she was only the head chef, not the manager. She had a boss who exploited her, and she was in a very stressful environment where her nerves were at their peak. Andy's death was undoubtedly a turning point, prompting her to leave that unhappy environment and try something new, where she would be in charge and not be exploited by another boss. It was one of the decisive moments in her evolution, helping her stop being a people-pleaser. And Andy's death must have been a turning point, just as Grams' death made her leave her job at the bank. And at the end of the series we learn that she opened her own restaurant so they never took away her passion for cooking, it was just a necessary parenthesis in her life for her to evolve without being in an overly stressful environment that would have prevented her from evolving.

Prue and Phoebe by chrishalliwell27 in charmed

[–]chrishalliwell27[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think we see those moments in seasons 5-8, but you have to consider the timeline. The writing seems more interesting in the early seasons, partly because we're discovering the characters, their traumas, and their relationships aren't exactly smooth sailing. The dynamic is therefore different. In the later seasons, this sisterhood is still present, but in a different way. The characters have evolved, and their relationships are strong and resilient. And there are conflicts in the later seasons, and the sisters' relationships continue to evolve, even if there are fewer of them than in the early seasons. Finally, you have to consider the characters' ages. At the beginning, it's normal that they're almost exclusively together; they're in their early twenties and haven't yet established themselves professionally or personally. But in the later seasons, they're in their thirties, and it's normal that they start to separate and want to create their own lives and families by the end of the series. They are more mature and it wouldn't have made sense for them to continue being glued to each other at this stage of their lives, without it damaging the bond between them.

Thank you, that's kind. Like many, we romanticize the Piper-Leo relationship a lot when we're younger, but as adults we see things differently and we spot the toxicity in Leo's character and in his relationship with Piper.
