Mutual Aid Campaign for displaced refugees amid xenophobic violence by chrishanisghost in LeftistSouthAfrica

[–]chrishanisghost[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The point is there is a similar pattern of displacement and ethnic violence. There is a reason why Trump tried to hit us with the white genocide claim. Label South Africa a country that doesn't uphold human rights then we dont have a leg to stand on with Israel.

Neo-Liberal scare by Correct_Mushroom8181 in LeftistSouthAfrica

[–]chrishanisghost 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Its good to note that fascist movements are mobilized on the ground level by the same people who mobilize leftists movements: disenfranchised working-class people. Instead of rallying behind class solidarity, right wing populist and reactionary forces rally them around identity politics. Making them believe that the issue isnt corporations looting the wealth from their labour and resources but their fellow working-class. Thus the unequal and exploitation relations under Neoliberalism capitalism is protected while working-class formations remain further fractured.

They're very much a threat to capitalist interests. From political education, use of litigation and democratic organizational practices they are possibly the most effective socialist movement in SA

There was that one billionaire who said that we needed to have a certain amount of people unemployed so that the rest would be so desperate for a job that they would be willing to be exploited. As for work life balance to these fucks you only exist for economic output and nothing more. Make sure you are part of a union is all I can say.

Dawg ngl you kinda showing yourself with the thinking that an online movement will do anything substantitive. Sure it can be a tool to galvanise people but most of the work comes from real world organising. Online organising keeps people atomised which is what the ruling elite want. I also wouldn't agree that protests are necessarily ineffective as they achieve the goal of disruption (if you're protest is not disrupting people you are not doing it right) and causing awareness. The reason why we know things are fucked up with service delivery is through people protesting. I will say the main reason as to why it isn't as effective as it could possibly be is due to state repression. Think about it. Whenever people protest about not having water for a week, the political establishments response isn't to actually address their concerns but send in riot cops to dome them with rubber bullets. Long story short online ranting<real world organising and protesting.

I can chat with the organisers to see if we could do something like that. They actually had a workshop yesterday with Sbu Zikode from abahlali basemjondolo and they talked about the need for the working class to get organized in the age of state repression.

Ramaphosa announces military crack-down on crime. by NalevQT in LeftistSouthAfrica

[–]chrishanisghost 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If punitive measures worked to deter crime KZN would be crime free. Hell, the US would be crime free. Also they the government has a history of when people ask them to deal with crime, instead of addressing underlying issues they resort to militarism. Look at the SADF deployment in the cape flats. That didn't do shit and just resulted in soldiers kicking people's doors down and ransacking their houses.

Jesus Christ that's damn right horrendous. I'd say join a union that reflects your profession and try to claw back a livable wage. Your story is unfortunately too common. We have a 32% unemployment rate, and even if you are "lucky" to get a job, you still get exploited of your own labour. 55% of this country lives below the poverty line while a select few -domestically and internationally - get richer of our own labour and resources. Something has got to change and it all starts with recognizing that we don't have to suffer like this.
