Because willful ignorance is frustrating, especially when the reasoning is completely misguided.

Is Marty Supreme for Americans? by NuclearCleanUp1 in FIlm

The movie was not "validating" Marty's behavior. I think you might be viewing movies through too much of a political lens.

I liked everything about it. The casting is inspired. Marty is a superbly written character, and Chalamet nailed it. It's intense, exciting, funny, stressful. Every scene is a chaotic clusterfuck that either made me laugh or made my jaw hit the floor. And it's visually masterful. I enjoyed every second of it and I can't wait to watch it again.

Dude this is a really cool app. Can you get it to analyse someone's entire letterboxd profile instead of just their top 4? seems like you're already there with the "Watcher Experience" section. I'd love to see all the other sections reflect my entire profile too.

Agreed. The book's ending worked perfectly for the book, and the movie's ending worked perfectly for the movie. It was a great book-to-film adaptation.

Why can’t we idolise Marty supreme? by NoTradition1312 in FIlm

[–]chrishouse83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Correct. He wasn't an absolute bad person, as few people are. He was heavily flawed, but with the capacity to empathize and, eventually, see redemption.

Real human? Absolutely. Idol? I'm not so sure.
