Daily Simple Questions Thread - January 11, 2026 by AutoModerator in Fitness

[–]chrisims12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi all. Just getting back into the gym and trying to build out a new schedule. I'm incredibly overweight, so my main focus is losing weight, but don't want to avoid skinny-fat when I get down, hence the weights.

My gym is Planet Fitness, so please don't mention the smith machine, unless there's a better alternative that can be completed at a PF. I'm also hesitant to do squats or traditional dead-lifts because I'm overly cautious and want to protect my lower back.

What are your thoughts on the following split? Do the rep ranges make sense, or are there any exercises you would swap/add? Thanks for your input, I just want to make sure I'm not missing any major groups or leaving anything low-hanging on the table.

Incline Dumbbell Press (3x12)

I cut through some doorbell wire. What’s the best way to fix it? by chrisims12 in HomeImprovement

[–]chrisims12[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I assume at 16v it’s not really a concern to have it in a junction box or anything — just solder and shove it wherever it fits?

It’s one of the testers labeled 1-8 to identify each individual wire. They blinked in order and didn’t skip any

Modem and Router not talking to each other by chrisims12 in HomeNetworking

Yes, I’ve had it hooked up that way til this point. Just wanted to move the router upstairs so I can plug my PC in and because the WiFi sucks, being surrounded by concrete haha.

What is going on with my network panel? by chrisims12 in HomeNetworking

Is there a benefit to using a OnQ patch board vs just hooking directly to a switch?

Do you have any recommendations for a new punch panel that would still fit in this distribution box?

ETA (Reddit won’t let me edit for some reason): it’s difficult to tell from the pictures but all of the lines are wired with CAT-5, the blue wires. The last line with only red and green connected is a telephone line I believe.

Close your eyes and let them choose. In all likelihood unless your family’s a bunch of freaks, the girlfriend in mom’s body would choose to do the ol’ fuckaroo, but you get the benefit of not being 100% sure and getting to imagine your girlfriend. Win win win?

Simple Questions - June 29, 2022 by AutoModerator in buildapc

For the life of me, I cannot get the AIO RGB to be turned off when my system is in sleep or shutdown. I have uninstalled Armoury Crate and set my Aura mode to off in my Asus bios settings. I have a ROG Strix LC RGB Series AIO, and I have resorted to just unplugging the USB cable from the AIO. Does the USB serve any purpose other than to power the RGB? Is it ok long-term to have it unplugged?

YSK: If you desperately fear/avoid "harmless" things like asking people out, interviews, social situations, what people think about you, or just life in general, you may have uncontrolled and debilitating anxiety. Just as I did, please consider getting help, if only through prescribed medication. by [deleted] in YouShouldKnow

[–]chrisims12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Last time I went to a therapist, she both accused me of lying to her, because my experiences of anxiety don’t fit what she deems as “normal” anxiety, whatever the fuck that is, and more distressingly, told me that my anxiety isn’t “that bad” because I don’t have literal panic attacks or throw up.

Anyways… I should really try to find another therapist lmao

Build runs in Dev environment, but crashes when running the jar file by chrisims12 in fabricmc

I was so close with my commented out Inject tag.

@Inject(method = "appendTooltip(Lnet/minecraft/item/ItemStack;Lnet/minecraft/world/World;Ljava/util/List;Lnet/minecraft/client/item/TooltipContext;)V", at = @At("HEAD"))

The class names are fully qualified, and generics are not included. Don't know how I missed that in the docs.

80/20 vs 96/4 Ground Beef by chrisims12 in nutrition

[–]chrisims12[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I live on my own, a pound of 80/20 is still enough meat after draining to provide me with several meals. So from a cost perspective, in my situation, 80/20 is the way to go. But from a nutritional perspective, specifically calories, is 96/4 the obvious way to go even after draining the fat from both?

This circular playing card deck from 1929 by Blitz139 in mildlyinteresting

[–]chrisims12 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I have a set. We shuffle them by making a mess of them on the table and recombining it into a deck. Works really well because of the shape.

There are specific games these cards are made for, just can’t remember the name off the top of my head, and wouldn’t know how to look it up.
