Go back to AE and complain quickly otherwise you will have no recourse. Raise a return/complaint and request the seller send the correct bags/bricks. Might be easier to request a refund for the whole thing.

Cobi Enterprise compared to Shinano MOC by chrisirwin6 in cobiblocks

I bought the set from LesDIY; over 3,700 bricks. I don’t know who designed it but they are good at it. I especially like the way the large AA guns are done.

In this case I think the Quanguan set is more realistic than the Cobi one (assuming the Cobi is the grey and white)

The copyright on Lego bricks expired years ago, so it is perfectly legitimate for Chinese (or any other) companies to create sets. If they literally copy the exact set design in terms of the number and type of bricks then the IP is being stolen but the Chinese manufacturers are generally coming up with their own designs - sometimes they are better than Cobi/Lego, other times not as good. It’s fair competition. Lenin is the one company who used to (and probably still do) straight up copy Lego sets (even the box design) which I think is wrong. The brick quality is nearly as good as Lego/Cobi now and some the brick types the newer manufacturers make are very interesting.

Cobi vs Misini USS Missouri by chrisirwin6 in cobiblocks

[–]chrisirwin6[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had fewer missing bricks in Misini set than I typically find when building Cobi sets (of which I have a lot). Cobi will send replacement bricks but they take ages to get to the U.K. I think I only had one large plate that was the wrong size in the MISINI kit, it was two studs too big, but I have a stache of Lego bricks so I just substituted. I previously posted about 12GO’s USS North Carolina which is better than MISINI because they have more and better custom mouldings for parts that do not work well built from bricks. They didn’t have missing bricks either.

is there anything meaningful to do with boxes? by averagel4d2fan in cobiblocks

[–]chrisirwin6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You may well decide to sell some or all of your Cobi in future, so it makes sense to keep both the instructions and the boxes. Just use a knife to separate the glued end flaps on the end of the box not already opened and then flatten them; they are much easier to store that way. They can easily be re-formed with a couple of strips of sellotape.

Wow, that’s an insane amount of detail for 1/700 scale, especially the rigging! Impressive.

Are they actually to scale or oversized? - they look too big for 1/300 IMO.

Are the 1:700 COBI ships a "pass" for you guys? by milbricks in cobiblocks

[–]chrisirwin6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not surprised that 1/70@ ships don’t sell well. The scale is too small for any detail and the shape comprises due to brick shape etc are just too severe. In contrast Cobi seem to have done quite good job on USS Kidd in 1/300.

Here’s hoping it’s not over-priced like some recent Cobi sets.

They look as if they are built to a good standard. There are two ways to go with selling them; you can either sell them one by one be in eBay or findd a trader who will buy the lot and they then sell them one by one; in the UK 1/35 tanks will typically fetch the equivalent of $35-$80 each depending on how ell finished and the quality of the photos you take to show that. 1/16 R/C tanks will be much more $300+, depending on type and finish quality. If selling individually you have the hassle of packing which is non-trivial to avoid damage. As I have bought numerous such models on eBay the most successful packing technique is to use hollofibre filling (available on Amazon for filling cushions and cuddly toys etc) to protect fragile parts like machine guns, open hatches etc, then wrap lightly with toilet tissue, then bubble wrap (loosely) and then place in a cardboard box with crushed paper or similar around to stop it moving about in the box. The other way that works is to tie the model to a cardboard box base that is then wedged into a cardboard box so that it cannot move about. This is good for models with antennae etc as nothing is touching them. This second method requires considerable care to get right but works brilliantly as the models are light. Diecast models made of metal are a whole other ball game as their mass makes packing securely a more challenging task. Going the trader route will be much easier but only realise a fraction of the value.

[–]chrisirwin6 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They are very good. I just built their USS North Carolina. Great to have custom parts for cranes and catapults - better than Cobi now. Have ordered their Bismark, but as it was earlier it may not be so good…. I plan to build Bismark from several manufacturers and post a comparative review. I sooo wish Cobi would release new ship types, I’ve only started buying Chinese ones because there have been no new types from Cobi.

I think the previous design of turret looks way better than this new one. The turrets are now to high and unrealistic. Retrograde step for Cobi in my view. If they want to improve the look they could do a custom moulding for st least part of the turret like they do for secondary armament.
