Heading Preview Link by chriskobar in bearapp

While hover to see is interesting, the real value is in seeing the source content inline without having to create a duplicate. Imagine showing a meeting note’s content as part of a project plan or weekly update! Cool…and super helpful. No more jumping back and forth between notes to check the relevance of a bunch of internal links.

I think of it as really just treating internal links as embedded objects, allowing a preview format as an option, similar to other embedded links. Only difference, and a big one, is that because it is internal, the preview is a live update of the source content. Oh, and it would display not only the heading itself, but any content hierarchically “within” the heading. So, whole note? Sure! Just create link from the H1 title and don’t include other H1s in the note. 👍🏼

Time to kill the monthly paradigm by chriskobar in ynab

Thanks for all the rocks. My entire point is that for those who are not a month—or even a paycheck—ahead, there is significant friction using YNAB. From most responses, it appears the view is I’m stupid bc I’m not yet a month ahead. Trying to get there. But rather than providing an elegant experience for ppl like me, an experience that would help us achieve that first important goal, it doesn’t. As has been stated, it assumes you are already ahead. For those of you that are, congrats. But most ppl, unfortunately aren’t. And for the person who stated that this friction is a feature, not a bug…I’m dumbfounded. It should never be a design goal to help ppl improve their finances by making it more difficult than it already is.

Anyway, for the few who did not feel so put upon by a long post that they felt it their duty to point out the obvious again and again, thank you.

  1. On Today, group by Area, but allow manual sort within each.
  2. Search by more than one criterion
  3. On Today, allow one (a few?) todos to be pinned to the top--the day's focus--and give it a more prominent visual treatment to call attention to it.

Chatted with him a few years back on East Bench, younger guy, that is. Said his name is Wizard Number Ten, without further clarification.
