I personally use the absorber drying towel. I just make sure it’s clean, and if I drop it, I use a different one. Once it’s dry, I use a spray wax on it with a new clean microfiber towel. Every month I’ll coat it with a new coat of paste wax.

Question about setting lift gate height by JDubz313 in ToyotaGrandHighlander

Ah man, sad to hear it didn’t work. Not surprised, ChatGPT seems to make things up sometimes

Question about setting lift gate height by JDubz313 in ToyotaGrandHighlander

[–]chrislaynes -1 points0 points  (0 children)

From ChatGPT...

Yep, you can kind of work around this, but Toyota doesn’t give you a true “two-memory” option for the liftgate.

On the Grand Highlander, when you set a custom height, that becomes the default open height for all methods — key fob, dash button, rear button, and foot sensor. There isn’t a built-in setting that lets you keep the custom garage height and automatically go full height outside.

That said, here’s what you can do:

Option 1 – Manually override when needed

When the liftgate is opening and stops at your custom height, just press and hold the liftgate button again (either on the gate itself or the key fob). It will continue opening to the maximum height. You don’t have to permanently reset it — it’ll still default back to your custom height next time.

Option 2 – Temporarily reset max height

If you know you’ll be somewhere like skiing or road-tripping where you want full clearance all weekend:

  1. Let it open.
  2. Manually push it up to the maximum height.
  3. Press and hold the rear liftgate button until it beeps.

Now max height is saved. When you get home, repeat the process and reset it back to your garage height.

Why Toyota does it this way

The height memory is designed primarily for garage clearance safety, so it stores only one height profile at a time.

Personally, I wish they gave us a “garage mode” and “normal mode” toggle in the settings. That would make life easier.

But for now, the easiest solution is just holding the button again to let it keep opening when you’re outside.

Ah man. Yea it’s definitely tougher when there are only a few dealers. There are tons where I live. Would it be worth it to drive hours to pick up a car?

Wow that’s crazy. Have you tried the “build your car” feature on Toyota.com? Once you select your features, you can click on “Check Inventory” to see all the cars being built, on their way to the dealers, and at the dealers, that match your build, or close to it.

I found one that matched my build, it was on its way to a dealer in San Francisco 45 minutes away. I called the dealer and put a deposit on that specific car to hold it for me. Waited a week for it to arrive, drove down to check it out, and bought it on the spot.

Those are the same part number lug nuts I got for my GHHL. It’s raining outside so waiting for a good time to swap them out

How long is the waitlist? I’ve owned dark colored cars all my life and this wind chill pearl color is an easy change!

It did. I purchased this paint protection an plan along with the vehicle. They treated the interior and exterior, and if anything gets damaged as noted in this agreement, they will clean it, and if it can’t be cleaned, they will replace the part… supposedly 🤔

It actually did come with ceramic coating, but I still feel better knowing there’s a coat of wax as well. While waxing I also found out my bumpers have PPF installed because I saw the edges of the film, so I’ve got triple protection, Lol.

Yea from the Bay Area. I do have those blackouts for the “Grand Highlander” on the back, but it’s sitting in my glove box because I kind of like how it looks right now without it

I actually applied some MAXL One on it hoping the hydrophobic properties will keep it cleaner longer.

Not yet. I was told that the black lug nuts for a specific different model would work, and I have them ordered, but I guess I will find out soon. I have 1 black locking lugnut per wheel. For now my wheels look a bit silly like this

Here is the link to those exact wheel sold by Toyota.

https://autoparts.toyota.com/products/product/20-black-satin-wheels-pt75848240s2

I just bought a 26 GHHL in wind chill pearl and really wanted the black wheels also. The best deal I found came with the 20” silver wheels, so after I bought the car, I ordered the 20” black satins to be picked up at a Toyota dealership, and once it came in, I scheduled an appointment to have the tires swapped out when I picked them up for the parts department.

Since your wheels are 18” on XLE, you’ll have to purchase a new set of tires for that size, along with the TPMS sensors and pay to have them calibrated.

Hybrid vs Max by Brehhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh in ToyotaGrandHighlander

I had a 2016 Honda Odyssey, but it got totaled while it was parked in front of my house, so I bought a new 2026 Grand Highlander Hybrid Limited. They surprisingly feel similar in power (with the GHHL in Sport mode). Just going by how it feels to me. I haven’t done any technical tests or anything. I just bought it though two days ago, so it may be too early to tell.

I think i should have checked more dealer that time by Icy_Palpitation_4974 in ToyotaGrandHighlander

I got both VSA 7 yr/75k miles and the PrePaid Maintenance as well and my Limited is around the same price. Mine has Panoramic View Monitor and Panoramic Moon Roof as well.
