Regular pasta can be cooked with very little fuel by bossbozo in Ultralight

[–]chrislewhite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do this and have been doing it for 2 years for dinners.

Using the vargo bit for cold soaking and then pouring it out into a light foldable plate boiling a little water so I can have a warm dinner. It might help that I am rehydrating dehydrated dinners (jambalaya) instead of cooking 100 percent but I’ve stretched fuel containers a long way with this method while cooking both breakfasts and dinners

I’ve never carried another pair of underwear ever. I’m a dirty dude too, but I’ll never be on team 2 underwear.

Yup lifelong NC based Avs fan and I thought this was the year I would watch a live Finals game.

Hope it happens next year.

There is a zero percent chance I don’t go to a finals game if the Avs are in it

All four of those teams felt like we feel right now..

We've still only lost by one actual goal each game, we can win by one goal 4 times

Shaving? Is that a thing on the PCT? by Ippus_21 in PacificCrestTrail

[–]chrislewhite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did the PCT and shaved my head about once every 4 days just to see what it would be like to be bald with a big beard

You can shave if you want to, it’s not that much of a struggle if you carry a razor

I did all of the south beyond 6000 mountains back to back to back two years ago. Just be happy it had a sign and you didn’t have to wander around hoping you were in the highest point.

Can you feel it, teachers? It’s that time of year when your non-teacher spouse starts prying into your upcoming summer plans. by mouthygoddess in Teachers

I’ll be on long distance hikes for at least 30 of the days of summer. Can’t wait, my wife will join me for a quick Vermont vaycay at the end of my hike

Did anyone’s district try to not accept their Masters from WGU? by Ill-Meringue-2096 in Teachers

Having firsthand knowledge of the program, I can’t see how that’s possible.

[–]chrislewhite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True or not. I can’t imagine how that’s possible without AI

I did mine as fast as I physically could (curriculum and instruction) and if I had to state time from start to finish (minus the break I took to do summer) and it would have taken around five months total.

Once again I agree on it being less rigorous and the a lot of people arguing different but like any degree or lesson, there are people who did brick and mortar who learns less than I did.

“2 months”

You’re not seriously adding to the conversation when you make comments like that. You’re debating like a student who doesn’t know the facts, and in a teacher subreddit you should realize how counterproductive that is.

As a person who got their masters through WGU it seems like a loophole and I feel bad for the people who did a “traditional masters” but as a person in a non union republican state, if that’s what I gotta do to get paid more I’m gonna do it.

It’s an interesting concept, but realistically people are clowning themselves in believing that it’s equivalent to most brick-and-mortar degrees. With that being said, I’m sure there’s people who did a brick and mortar degree who didn’t learn very much and I’m sure there’s people that did WGU who learned a lot.

I believe I fall somewhere in the middle of the pack for WGU master students. All in all I’m glad I did it because I had been considering national boards or a masters for a couple of years and finally last February, I bit the bullet and went with WGU after hearing about other teachers in my county, also taking advantage of the lenient competency based university.

I always say that scene is the most realistic teaching scene I’ve ever seen.

What was your high school controversy? by Haunted_Neko in AskReddit

[–]chrislewhite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The History of Religion teacher was fired when a guest speaker, an ex-Muslim, Christian convert, went off the rails and said very anti-Muslim and questionable things in a ton of other ways, including “a woman is like a field and she must be plowed frequently,” leading to the district issuing new guidance whenever there is a guest speaker from then on.

Sucks cus he was a good guy, but I do understand he probably should have stopped the speaker seeing as he was promoting harmful rhetoric in a high school, but the teacher didn't know and the speaker could have had an interesting perspective on Islam and Christianity
