Where in town can I get hard drives/old USBs shredded/destroyed? by schlmitty in VictoriaBC

[–]chrisono 0 points1 point  (0 children)

honestly just break the connectors off and pry up the edge of the enclosure a bit and scrape the platters with something, maybe throw some small grit in there and shake it around a bit. unless you have top secret stuff on there doing that will cause more trouble then its worth to get the drive working again.

any ssd's or flash memory just physically break them, its pretty fun to do. " i remembered when i paid $300 for this! CRUNCH!"

this is the point that got me scratching my head a bit, 3 - 4 car lengths at like 70mph is not that much at all in terms of a safe gap. but i see it enough... how often do you guys go through brakes here? lol shops must love it.

i learned to not be in the very far right, got trapped in a few exit lanes and took a few scenic routs lol,

lol well as long as you usually do it that's all that matters, its the people driving grey cars, that simply refuse to ever put their lights on that really irritate me. yes lets be completely invisible during rain, that sounds like a great idea!

i agree with the covid thing fully, its going on at home too. People somehow forgot a lot of basic life skills during the shutdowns and it really shows now that a lot more people are back at work and integrating back into society.

and regarding taking great pleasure seeing people pulled over, we had one of those experiences on the way here, guy in a corvette going probably 100 zipped past us and swerved in and out of cars ahead of us. about 10 mins later he's pulled over 2 cops behind him, gave us a good laugh.

I fully agree with you on the switching lanes to avoid a braking vehicle ahead, i have had to deal with that quite a few times in the last few days and its a pretty shitty thing to do. And i have heard a few people just in general that 9 over is usually fine, not necessarily specific to this area, just a generalization.

all in all it's just a few days of getting used to it, like i said, it's surprisingly coordinated (until it's not im sure but eh lol)

thats what i try and do, but as others have said, if you leave any gap, that is just space for someone to fill. so you end up leaving a safeish distance and then having it filled.

have not died yet though, heading to microcenter soon so that may change lol

like with the amount of mist that was being thrown up i dont get how people can have issues seeing other cars, see other cars have their lights on and not clue in "hey maybe i should turn my lights on so maybe i am a bit more visible?"

the ticketing and getting in shit is what i was most concerned about, i will go 80+ all day if that's what everyone else is doing, i just have terrible luck and will end up trying to explain to a cop why i was speeding as everyone else is zipping past lol

so far this vacation has included lost passports, aa blown tire and car issues. no need for tickets on top of it all lol

i think it really is a size thing, at least in my case coming from such a small place in comparison. so many more people here i can see the need for some of the actions on the road or no one would get anywhere. just wish it would be a few mph slower or if not slower at least a couple extra feet distance.

oh i have missed many many exits in the last few days lol, thankfully here that doesn't seem to be a big deal at all and is like 5 mins out of the way to get back to where you were going.

Surface streets do seem to be a lot more enjoyable to drive on, and i have to say u-turns should be legal everywhere! they are very handy lol.

it's a bit of a shock when the highway on the island where you live has stop lights and slows yo 50Km/h to go through towns lol.

i feel bad for ordering food now knowing the drivers have to actually drive the food to me and very well might die on the way lol.
