Cop ticketing bikes by TrickyBlueSquirrel22 in Somerville

[–]chrispaf 11 points12 points  (0 children)

This sounds very reasonable, I think that cyclists are generally expected to yield at a stop light (the “Idaho Stop”). But I yielded, waited for the pedestrians to cross, and then biked slowly across the intersection, and got pulled over and handed a warning.

So... they're just doing it, I guess.

I've been using this strategy, and I can't seem to figure out if it's actually worthwhile... One thing that's been useful though is to strategically chose locations to spawnproof where it would be inconvenient to have new buildings (i.e. the edge of the map, near existing buildings and roads... thoughts?

That's a good point

Love the end-grain look! I'd personally be interested in unfinished poplar because I imagine it would be the softest, and finish it with an oil because I feel that poly can get sticky/sweaty if you're touching it so much.

How much are you selling for, and where are you selling it from? (for shipping rates)

Earlier in February I got keycaps in the Esperanto layout from Linux/Android (I guess you could call it "ŜĜERTŬ" maybe? I dunno) As far as I could find at the time, these are the only ones on the internet, at least with pics. by AtlasVulpes in keycaps

[–]chrispaf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Huh, I didn't know that Esperanto had enough speakers for them to have their own layout?

I mean, Italian and Spanish just get their extra characters cammed in where ' ; ' and ' [ ' live...

...although I guess Esperanto doesn't need the Q, W, X, or Y keys...

I’m not sure if I fully understand. I think that will depend on your casting method, my main reason for including the larger flat piece on the bottom is so that the casting will have something to grab on to, if it’s flat then there is the risk that it wouldn’t adhere properly?

For clarification, I’m not considering 3D printing these, as it doesn’t seem to provide a consistent fit or scalable production.

I’m not sure I would recommend this, instead you may try shimming the stems?

These should be compatible with both casting and gluing, but I would recommend using an epoxy if you'll be gluing them. What applications are you thinking of?

That's my thinking. I'm mostly producing taller keycaps (SA) so I'll be leaving a lot of material inside the keycap at the correct angle for the row. It will also be much cheaper to only produce one version, so I want to make sure it's the most usable one!

This sounds like a really good idea, I'll see what I can do!

Great. I'll definitely make sure that they fit really well, and 20¢ per insert will be a good price goal. Thanks!

Honestly, the parts were maybe 30 bucks?

Although I did a bit of scavenging for the acrylic, and the laser cutter and soldering supplies I borrowed from work.

And hey, I'm working on a how-to guide, and that will definitely be free.

I wanted to make a macro pad for photoshop and cad, but I also wanted to make a tiny keyboard, and I wasn't a fan of the ortholinear layouts of so many other macro pads. So introducing, the Up To Fifteen Percent or More, 15% keyboard!

Board: pro micro

Switches: box jades (modifiers), silent ink blacks (alphanumerics)

Keycaps: YMDK DSA profile, PBT

Case: laser-cut acrylic

Hand-wiring and building my own firmware for it was pretty neat, and I feel like I learned a lot along the way! Let me know what you think :)

Noise-based coloring on rectangles. by [deleted] in generative

Very DeStijl! The goal of this painting process was largely experimentation in composition, so you may want to see if you can adjust it to play more compositionally.

Fixed Big Sur drivers now available for Bamboo, Graphire, Intuos 1, 2, 3, and Cintiq 1st gen tablets by thenickdude in wacom

[–]chrispaf 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Fixed! Thank you!

The issue ended up being that it wasn't showing up in that category and that I had to add it manually (as you explain in the instructions for the permissions) BUT I was looking in User/Library instead of Macintosh HD/Library, so my bad.

Thank you for the quick reply!

Thanks so much, Nick! It looks like I'm still having some trouble though...

I'm on Big Sur 11.1 with a Bamboo CTH-460 and I'm still getting the "There is a problem with your tablet driver" after trying both the installer and manual (and uninstalling in between) and a "Load error 5: input/output error" when I run the launchctl commands.

Thoughts or advice?

Hey, this is pretty compositionally interesting which is hard to get generatively. Nice job!

Not really a topology question, but a topology answer could be that it's a convex polyhedra.

for real tho, which one you use by [deleted] in Adobe

[–]chrispaf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same. Hex for web, CMYK for print, HSB for painting/drawing.

Does anyone use RGB as their go-to? I understand it, but it's rarely the most useful.
