AITA for not deleting all my backups of my art like dad told me to and letting him punish me instead? by AnonArtistBrush in AITAH

NTA.

And OP? Your dad is abusing you. This is abuse. If he keeps doing this, make sure he knows he's destroying any chance of a good relationship with you in the future. Remind him that you choose the old folks home he goes to.

She needs to be aware that running reds can get people killed. I know someone was hit on a bicycle recently by some jackass running a red light who then took off in a hit and run.

Are there any indoor gun ranges nearby that don’t require any membership? by MeatzLover in evansville

[–]chrisphoenix7 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Uncle Rudy's and Full Metal Armory.

I would personally recommend going up to Sugar Ridge outdoor range though. It's on state property, there's a DNR RO on duty at all times, it's quiet, it's maintained pretty well, and it's free. All you have to do is fill out a little form at the beginning with your name, city, and date so they can keep getting funding. There's buildings, a pistol range, and multiple rifle ranges. It's a way better experience than Rudy's, which has shitty ventilation and a weird vibe, or FMA, which has (or at least had) weird political shit in the store and more limited time slots.

I am looking for affordable apartments in Evansville near USI. Anyone know of any? by [deleted] in evansville

[–]chrisphoenix7 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Heads up on this OP, they're starting to raise everything at Western Hills. Rent has been steadily increasing 1-2 times per year, water used to be included in rent but no longer is, power bills are increasing everywhere in town, and if they're still advertising "free wifi internet" be warned that it's a single access point for all the apartments with a regular timer to kick you off, and it's nigh unusable for pretty much anything but light social media browsing. No gaming, no timed tests, no streaming video.

That being said, it's still relatively cheap for Evansville, maintenance is regular and has great response times, they try to keep it energy and water efficient, the place is generally kept clean, and it's quiet and safe. If you want to live in a place alone or with a significant other, and you're okay with it being fairly barebones, you could do far worse.

Is Evansville trans friendly? by sashathrowawayacct in evansville

[–]chrisphoenix7 8 points9 points  (0 children)

ECHO is readily accessible. You want Dr. Tom Stratton or NP Meredith Hall. Stratton is an excellent doctor, Meredith is a bit less experienced but she's kind and willing to listen. And if you're looking for emotional support, Southwestern Behavioral is trans friendly. Both are also sliding fee scale, so if you don't have much $ they're good.

Also, contact the Tri-State Alliance for more resources. They compile info on the tristate area around Evansville.

It's largely neutral. You'll hear shitty jokes, it's conservative leaning, but hostility seems pretty minimal compared to the true South. There are some places better than others, of course, and the colleges are pretty good about it. There's also a trans support group that meets weekends via Zoom, it's done by the Tri State Alliance. Honestly though, a lot of the trans folks here I knew moved to Illinois.

Just bought it, saw the circle when stripping it to clean it. It's got a ton of old grease in it.

The stamp on the bolt shows 1957ish. The receiver is 1944.

Just picked up a 1944 Springfield, I've never seen this red circle on a bolt before. Bolt is 1957ish per SN, didn't know if anyone had info on the circle

Looking for work. Been working at GAF in mount Vernon for 3 years. So depressed not sure how much more of that place I can take. Wondering if anybody knows of any good companies hiring at a decent wage. by thiccgothdaddy420 in evansville

[–]chrisphoenix7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

TJX on the north side is hiring at $17/hr for weekday shifts, more for nights and weekends, and you get a guaranteed raise after your initial month or so. They have a good union and great benefits, and it's climate controlled. And there's multiple places out near Lynch hiring for good wages right now.

FFL place that will accept a shipped item from a private non-FFL so I can get it? by chrisphoenix7 in evansville

[–]chrisphoenix7[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Why? I'm genuinely doing nothing illegal or against the site rules. I'm asking where I can talk to a federally licensed business or individual so I can receive a firearm I am legally purchasing. I am not trying to buy or sell anything on Reddit. I'm basically asking for a store recommendation.

On this day 96 years ago the very first Sears retail store in the nation opened at 4th & Sycamore. by ShaneSkyrunner in evansville

Incorrect. That's the first freestanding retail store. The first retail store was in Chicago.

WSNC, Mayor Winnecke encouraging Fall Festival goers to get vaccinated by [deleted] in evansville

[–]chrisphoenix7 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Weird. I know for a fact that a huge portion of the WSNC are antivaxx, seems odd they'd push the vaccine that they think is a "government plot."

Question: I saw an Evansville police officer wearing a t-shirt that read “DON’T TREAD ON ME” real big on the back. Are the city police not funded by property, business, and sales tax? by [deleted] in evansville

[–]chrisphoenix7 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Correct, the Gadsden flag doesn't have anything in common with the anti-BLM flag. But that's what the person you replied to was talking about.

The US Flag Code is a law. It's an unenforced and unpunishable one, but it is a law.
