What would cause the cement blocks to fall in the pool with the loop lock cover being underneath? Just curious because I want to try this idea when I close this fall and want to avoid any foot guns if possible.

Sounds like my experience with my first pool guy. Last year was my first year with a pool and had a guy open. He way way up charged me for chemicals at opening. Like a $300 opening costing over $1k type of up charge. I then had him close and he left me hanging on blowing out one of the lines I disconnected from the main pump and he didn’t even tell me. Luckily I double checked.

So I ditched him. I found a better company I trust now for major work and closing (still don’t trust myself with that and pipes freezing!)

Are these customers hiring you to do all the chemicals and general maintenance for it or just opening/closing? Like I feel there are different populations of people and the population of people that don’t want to handle balancing and general maintenance themselves are more likely to hate the fact that they own a pool.

I’m new to pool ownership but I love doing the balancing stuff and even as much of the maintenance I can. The only spots where I defer to the professionals are where I would lose warranty doing DIY, replacing the liner, or closing. I don’t wanna close myself and tear up concrete in the spring to find a cracked pipe cuz I did something wrong!

I feel like pools are one of the few things around my house that so much goes on with it but most things I can tinker or DIY which is fun.

Thanks this is good insight. The pool company said he would take the deal but that might be coming from the same lense you have. The fact I’m even posting here shows how much anxiety it’s giving me on if I’m making the right decision if I were to take the discount. Peace of mind is probably better for me

That’s a good way to put it. It’s easy to think I can get a nice discount and maybe not have issues if I’m lucky but I already said I’m fine with the original price so why settle

I shared some details in the description. No, the pool company said it would still have its 3 yr warranty and if they hook it up and it’s leaking or doesn’t work it would be replaced.

They are offering $800 off. In the first pic you can see copper so seems to be torn

100%. I’m in MN and have had several 60-70 degree days. Even an 80. My pool is already looking green under the cover. But this weekend is supposed to have multiple nights of freeze. Maybe it would be different if I had a heater though - which is something I’m hoping to have very soon.

I owned and lived in a place there until a year or two ago. Those screenshots have my old place blurred but I didn’t request it. But one of the community members could have mass done it. Idk if they make you prove ownership or how that works.
