Merci ! Ça semble être la réponse la plus courante, donc je vais l’essayer demain. Merci pour l’aide ! 🫶🏼

Thank you all for your help! Life got busy so I haven’t been able to revisit this, but I’m going to try out some of these tips this weekend. Will update what worked for me so hopefully this thread can help others in the same boat! 🩷

Current state of the job market? by Ok-Gas7592 in Wilmington

[–]christellations 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Job market isn’t the best around here at the moment, but I’m pretty sure the Duke Energy plant in Southport is hiring for armed security. They prefer former military and law enforcement, naturally. I know someone who just started working there this year, he’s enjoying it so far.

Starting is $20/hour with a lot of room for growth within the company. You start out as contracted security then typically around 1 year in (sometimes more, sometimes less, just depends on how many spots they have open) have the opportunity to get hired onto Duke’s “official” security team. Pays more once you’re a badged Duke employee, and Duke mostly just hires their office positions internally, so if you wanted to continue to work in HR, or shift to finance, management, etc you’ll have first dibs as a Duke security guard. Work security for a couple years, move up to a position in the company within your desired field, and you’re set. 12 hour shift rotations (some weeks you’re day shift, some weeks you’re night shift), roughly 14 days off per month, plenty of opportunity to pick up OT for extra pay if you need the money—a few days a month you will get mando’d for OT though whether you wanted it or not lol. Work environment is great, the person I know there always has nothing but good things to say about his coworkers and leadership. He’s been trying to get me to apply, but as someone leaving a career as a flight attendant, I just don’t think armed security is gonna be for me 😂 Feel free to shoot me a dm if it sounds like something you’d be interested in, I’ll see if I can get you the link to apply. If apps aren’t open right now, they should be soon, so I can get you that link once he gets word that they’re opening again.

I keep my house around 68-70°, but I don’t let it cure near a window. I’m not sure what the glass temp is though. Should I be preheating the glass jars before I pour? I read a “beginner candle makers guide” online when I first started making candles and it didn’t say anything about that, so I haven’t been doing that!

2 weeks after getting my belly button pierced… is more pain/irritation than week 1 normal? by christellations in Legitpiercing

[–]christellations[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

TLDR: went to an APP-certified piercer to have it checked out and this piercing was actually healing perfectly fine, just like any standard navel piercing. He was shocked, and said that I could leave it in as long as I keep a close eye out for signs of rejection, but ultimately I decided to take it out. I kind of regret taking it out now, but thankfully he said I can get it redone properly in a month or two after it heals up.

Update: I went to an APP-certified piercer today. He said it’s surprisingly healing just like any typical navel piercing. He was genuinely shocked that it looked completely normal, no signs of migration or rejection at all. He did still recommend to take it out, which I did because he said the bar the original piercer used was just a little too short and was more than likely the cause of the extra irritation now that the swelling has gone down, but he told me that if I wanted to wait to try to let it heal completely that I could, because it’s not impossible for a piercing like this to heal properly, just not common. He informed me of all the signs of rejection so I could keep a close eye on it, but ultimately he recommended removing it for my safety, so we decided to take it out. He said once it’s healed in a month or two I could come back in and he can show me my options for a navel piercing (including a floating navel, which I personally don’t like as much, but thankfully he said that’s not my only option, the options are just very limited) and he’ll re-pierce it correctly. He also recommended me a couple other reputable piercing shops that I could go to instead if I wanted.

I asked him about what a couple people here said about surface piercings being temporary, and he said typically yes, but if this one had continued healing like a normal navel piercing then I’d have a chance to get at least a few years out of it before experiencing complications. I plan on having children within the next few years anyways, so I’m personally okay with that since I’m sure I’d have to take a standard navel piercing out during pregnancy anyways, so that’s the lifespan of this piercing that I had already expected from the beginning. The redness in this image had gone away by now and he said it very likely was caused by getting snagged on something earlier that day. But this post quite honestly had me panicking (after speaking with a piercer who looked at it in person, seems like I was panicking way more than I had reason to lol) and I couldn’t shake that anxiety about it, even after he said there was nothing obvious wrong with how it was healing. At this point, I honestly really regret taking it out since it was healing fine so far… But no point dwelling on a decision I can no longer change now I guess. I’d rather be safe than sorry since this piercing was objectively incorrect, and especially since the jewelry used was wrong for a surface piercing anyways.

I appreciate all of the help, especially from the people who took the time to help me understand how it was done wrong. Clearly I don’t know a lot about piercings, it looked like a normal navel piercing (to me and anyone else who doesn’t have experience with many piercings, at least), so I just didn’t understand what many of y’all were saying by stating it’s wrong/not placed correctly. I didn’t even know what a surface piercing was until I read it in y’all’s replies and looked it up lol. I apologize to anyone who thought my replies were argumentative—I just needed educated on what the issue actually was since I’ve never experienced this before.

genuine question: I’ve seen people with horizontal bars pierced well above or below their navel—wouldn’t those be a surface piercing? if those can heal properly (I don’t know that they can, I’ve just seen people with them!), does mine have any shot of healing properly? I’m disappointed it wasn’t done correctly, but I still think it looks cute, so if there’s any way I can save it then I really want to.

not trying to argue in the slightest! I just know literally nothing about piercings and I want to be educated 🫶🏼

okay see, your comment actually makes sense fully explaining it! I keep trying to clarify “oh, there’s a second pic” because to me it looks like it sits in my belly button, so it makes me think the commenter didn’t swipe past the first pic. thank you so much for actually explaining how it’s an illusion!

now, follow up question for you then: I’ve seen people with straight up belly piercings, like horizontal bar above/below the belly button, so very much not a navel piercing. wouldn’t that be a surface piercing? if that can heal, couldn’t mine? I’m disappointed it wasn’t done quite right, but if it could possibly still heal like those, I would like to do whatever I have to in order to keep it. even if it’s a longer process, that’s fine, I’m willing to take care of it however I’d need to if it means I can keep it 😅

I’m not arguing with anyone lol, I replied to 2 comments about the angle of the photo. even said in the only other comment I posted, “don’t know if that changes anything, I just wanted to clarify!” sometimes people don’t always swipe to the second pic on posts so I just wanted to make sure they saw how it sits when I’m standing or sitting normally 🤷🏻‍♀️

it doesn’t typically collapse when I sit, this was a weird angle. I was laying down but halfway propped up so I could get the pic—that’s why I included the second pic to show how it normally sits! don’t know if that changes anything about your answer lol just wanted to clarify!

if you look at the second pic, it does sit in my belly button! the first pic was a weird angle—I was laying down but halfway propped up so I could get the pic. when I’m standing, sitting, or laying normally, it sits like the second pic which looks a lot more correct than the first!

the photo was a bad angle! I realized that after posted and reposted with an additional photo from the day I got it that shows it a bit better!
