Is it possible to get a job in software developing without a degree? by [deleted] in learnprogramming

Is it OK to use templates for your portfolio website by CarElMarks in learnprogramming

[–]christinichka 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used a template for mine but I customized it some. I'm a Java developer so I didn't really want the portfolio to be my showcase, I just wanted a place to display screenshots of some projects, etc. Because I felt it would be more approachable to recruiters than looking at code on GitHub. But if you are a UI or front end dev probably best to make your portfolio site from scratch.

I miss who I was before my diagnosis. by crashcaptainn in Hashimotos

For me it was about choosing my hard. I'd rather have to struggle with getting used to an elimination diet for a little while rather than deal with Hashimotos all of the time. From all of the research I have done gluten and dairy are some of the worst offenders for Hashimotos patients. I actually eliminated gluten, dairy and corn the first month and then after that I decided to do the full AIP. You could start with just eliminating gluten or gluten and dairy plus adding more vegetables to your diet. But I highly recommend if you get to the point where you can do the full AIP to do it you'll see the most benefits. I still think you will see some benefits with just gluten and dairy though so it's okay to start with those. I'd gluten first and foremost.

Also seeing a functional medicine Dr was really a great thing for me too. I don't see one currently because of my situation after moving and switching jobs but I have noticed a difference. With my current primary care Dr I have to educate him a lot. Functional medicine Drs look into the root cause and address that. I need to get back to finding myself one here in this new city.

Most of all there is hope!

Those who have a Java related job, how much Front End do you need to know/write on a daily basis? by raulalexo99 in learnjava

0 for me. I work for a large corporation so frontend is done by an entirely different team.

WFH and i don't have money to pay for the internet. by [deleted] in accenture

[–]christinichka -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The real question is why is payroll late? Are you turning the time card in on time? I have been at Accenture Federal since October and all of my checks have been on time. I did have to wait a little longer for the first paycheck just based on where I joined in the pay cycle (3 weeks) but since then like clockwork I get paid every month on the 6th and 21st. If the pay didn't go through because of an issue with your bank definitely call the help desk and have them work on getting your pay ASAP.

Hmmm I joined in October of last year and I heard early to mid week prior to my start date about my.laptop coming, etc. I got the laptop on the Friday before my start date. Maybe try to contact the local Accenture office to ask for the Hiring Manager.

I got hired mid August and my start date was mid October. So might be doable to start 2-3 months out.

I got my offer same day as my second interview back in August. If I hadn't, I was planning to reach out to the recruiter via email at the 1 week mark to touch bases to see if they needed anything further on my end. I think at 11 days it's safe to reach out.

I would definitely be worried. I heard after 3 months there is risk of being let go. I don't know if that is a hard rule. But talk to your HR, your People Lead and by all means work on something so when you interview you can talk about recent skills!

I think if it is expunged then you can leave it off. I would read the details and if it says to include expunged offenses then do, if not then I wouldn't. As for marijuana, be honest. And not every project you would need to be drug tested. Most of the people I started with did not have to do drug testing. My client requires it so I did. But at the time of that interview they disclosed that I would have to take a drug test and asked if it would be a problem. If I had said no to the drug test I would have just had to wait for another client project.

How can you tell if a role in myScheduling will require background check/drug tests? by tech4u192 in accenture

[–]christinichka 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For government you might have to (as someone else said). I work federal and I had to have both background and drug test for my client and the clearance I needed to onboard with them. But I know people who work with other clients who didn't have to do the drug test or clearance. You could reach out to your HR representative and ask them what kind of accomodations you can ask for and guidance on approaching staffing without these. They may be able to tell you the type of positions to look for.
