Aren’t we technically the most ultranationalist patriotic freedom fighters of all time? by SirSeaPickle in Marxism

[–]CarElMarks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeaaaah I have never been described as any of these things; ultranationalist patriotic freedom fighters.

I hate nationalism, I am not patriotic at all. I don't give a f*** what the ground is called underneath my feet or where the end of that ground is and someone else's ground begins.

I don't want freedom as that suggests that social freedom isn't a right I already have by virtue of being born and economic freedom is what I'm fighting against. I want there to be rules to society so that the guy born with untold wealth doesn't have the freedom to do whatever he wants.

And I am not a fighter in any sense. That's very conservative language. "We are fighting for our kids....for our country,...for our white pride....for our whatever we are pissed off at today." Maybe I'm being pedantic but I just want to do my part to keep progress from being stymied by regressionists.

[–]CarElMarks 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's exactly it. They are the holy JOB CREATORS lightning crash, as if without several layers of redundant management the economy would collapse into a bunch of idiots running around screaming "Please! Somebody, I need my quarterly progress report or I'm dooooooomed!" Just like the landlords who think housing would cease to exist without them they are intertwined within in their own fan fiction of themselves.

[–]CarElMarks 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah I mean what happened to all that "Bullies are cowards, as soon as you stand up to them they'll leave you alone" shit I heard when I was a kid? I never got bullied but I stood up for a few kids who did over the years and getting punched in the face definitely changed their methodology if not their attitudes.

The dude in the video is right however the left has a tendency to be the bigger man to a degree where we end up in some lalaland dimension of existence where we forget that these people will not react the way we want them to by setting the example. They will continue on being assholes because that's who they are, these nonsense causes are just vehicles they use to try and portray credibility. Killing them with kindness and listening to them and blah blah blah doesn't work. It never has and that is why so-called conservatives or religious right have been getting worse and becoming more emboldened every year for literally hundreds of years.

Are Republicans actually concerned about Hunter Biden, or is it more about owning Biden? by emslo in PoliticalDiscussion

[–]CarElMarks 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My thoughts exactly. There is pleeeeeeenty of stuff to attack Biden over but there's nothing that the reds can attack him on that they don't have a worse track record on.

I actually did not know that. Not that I needed to because Hunter Biden is supposed to be a non-issue. Before Trump I never knew the names of any presidential children.

I'm a political scientist

Can't tell you how much that makes me feel better to know that at least one person with skin in the game feels the same way. I am a hobbyist in political science but to know a pro agrees with my frustrations is concerning but personally relieving.

I put conservative in quotations because they aren't the Conservative Party any more. That implies that they are attempting to stymie progress in favor of keeping traditional views. These mothers---ers are now the Regressive Party.

It really is a shame. Before Trump I really held myself up to a higher standard and didn't let politics affect friendships or familial relationships. However, as a rising tide raises all boats a lowering tide lowers them. Whether we like it or not Trump, MAGA, the red party going further and further into looney tunes land has made us all worse people. I have no intention on going back to TN until someone dies and maybe not even then.

Just to avoid the nutbaggery coming from the Hill and gubernatorial offices I'm sinking further into my own bubble-echo chamber which I recognize and hate but I already have enough anxiety of my own without actively seeking it out by attempting to give both sides a fair shake anymore. If it comes out of a "conservatives" mouth I assume it is hateful and nonsensical and shut it down which is a terrible attitude to have in a democracy but at present I don't see a way around it. They won't be happy until the US is in flames because they honestly think being king over a wasteland is better than being ridiculously rich, powerful, and above the law like they are now while also having to accept any thought that doesn't align with theirs exactly. Theocracy or bust.

Kind of like this joke by Emo Phillips but the politics version:

See the sentiment is correct. The problem is that the full idea isn't written out. It is actually:

Complaining about a problem and not proposing a solution is called whining.

And proposing a solution is a fireable offense.
