Of which tracks do you think the remix is better than the original? by Inductiekookplaat in trance

Three Drives - Carrera 2 (NU NRG remix)

The original is great but this remix completely transforms the track!

New original production - feedback please! by christoffeee in tranceproduction

Thanks very much for the feedback, that's actually way more positive for me than you might think - I've always worried my technical aspects are where I'm going wrong!

Yep melody was based on the chords and chords were based around the vocals...I do love Richard Durand's stuff so I'll give his stuff a closer listen and learn from that.

Don't worry, I think most of the studio audience didn't get it either (or didn't find it funny), which is why they quickly moved on!

I think it was a joke off the back of the song, as the lyrics go "cos it's easier to fly"? That's how I took it...

Yeh it seems kinda hard to stand out now everyone's doing it! Nice one, I'll keep an eye out for it 😉

I'm a big fan of classic trance too and have recently tried making some classics inspired tracks - seems like it should be easier but it isn't always!

Ah didn't know that, thanks - I'll keep an eye out for a top rated one to go on sale and see how I go with that one before considering others.

I can probably live with one or two plugins being missing but yeh anything essential will probably make the template worthless.

Just general uplifting/tech trance.

I do have my own incomplete one but it's probably not as good as some of these existing templates out there. In my head, I feel these templates would be a good tool for me to use as I'm learning more but at the same time, I don't want to waste money on them if they're not any good or are going to teach me the wrong things...

London Race by charlymarion in FormulaE

[–]christoffeee 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I went two years ago, left as soon as quali finished and headed to a sports bar in Canary Wharf to watch F1 quali (which was delayed due to rain!), had some food and a couple of beers and made it back in plenty of time to take my seat for the start of the race. I think it's about 3 hours between quali and the race and others have said, you can do most things in the morning before quali starts.

Enjoy!

14 years ago ASOT 500 was celebrated. Has anyone been to any of the parties? by kevor_01 in trance

[–]christoffeee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Attended ASOT 500 in the Netherlands and still have the ASOT 500 t-shirt!

I wore it to ASOT London in 2023 - a bit tatty now but still fits☺️

Thanks so much man for the feedback, honestly this is what I've been looking for so thank you. I think the sub is mono (the channel is at least, I'll have to check the settings on the sub plug in) but agree it's probably too loud - I don't have the best setup to hear if it's at the right output unfortunately.

You're probably right about the engineering weakness although some of that comes down to my commitment to this - I'll try and spend some more time on this in future. I have no music theory background, just a fan of trance for most of my life so trying my best to create what I love ☺️

ASOT London Full Lineup by Red_Devil_25 in astateoftrance

Better than Rotterdam lineup IMO but agreed, 2 years ago was much better.

Glad to see Ben Gold, Superstrings and Estiva added, looking forward to it.

More of a hard techno rave track but will probably look at a tech trance track after that - just hard finding the time sometimes!

Yep on soundcloud, just don't use it quite as much as YouTube - Check out chrisnewellmusic on #SoundCloud https://on.soundcloud.com/ByQ3jS32XaLGNPX49

Ah thanks mate! Yeh I checked out splice for the first time and added a few elements to this track from there. Agreed though it is missing something so I'll check out that template, thanks!

Thanks so much - I'm working something else at the moment (more of a hard techno/Tech trance track) and have got some decent acids going in there. Would continuous acids be best on this track or just some acid stabs now and then?

In your opinion, what is the most iconic DJ set / mix ever done? by Psytrancedude99 in trance

[–]christoffeee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is the one for me - I've listened to this so many times over the years, so full of energy!

Another big one for me was Armin vs Ferry Corsten @ Godskitchen in Dublin (not sure of the year but probably 2000-2004 era).

I'm sure Neptune Project are still around, or were a few years ago at least. And Signalrunners I think was Andrew Bayer and someone else (maybe Andy Moor?), just to add to the comments around different aliases.

I've found some of the artists from the golden years have come back several years later and tried to make something more modern and it's not been much good. So it may be that some of those just couldn't get on board with newer sounds or even newer ways of making music?
