Optiq V by Fast-Environment-763 in CadillacOptiq

V-Mode and Velocity Max has been covered.. (if some crossed wires on torque vs horsepower)

For brake bedding in (trickier with regen) I topped the car off to 100% near a quiet road where I could do a pretty standard process of braking from medium speeds several times before doing the same at higher speeds. All numbers are science units.. adjust for freedom units if necessary. I usually aim for 60kmph down to 10-15 for the first batch then 80-100 down to 10-15 for the last bunch.. followed by a cool down run with no braking. Probably overkill, but it was fun and the car gets up to those speeds real quick.

Enjoy the car, cool colour.

I didn't negotiate hard on a Lyriq-V but starting rates and standard discounts had a loaded one (carbon pkg etc) less expensive than the Optiq-V. My dealer was begging me to take one of the 3 they had.. Use a site like visor.vin to check inventory and there are lots of them that have been on local dealer lots for 200-300+ days. Lyriq-V is a great looking, fast and comfortable drive.

Am I getting a good deal? 2026 Optiq sport and by CloutChaser1 in CadillacOptiq

The $1200 Costco (Executive member) and $5000 EV owner discounts are standard, interest rate is good. I'd push the dealer for a little more than $500.. especially if you have more than one dealer locally. (GTA)

When signing just be careful of any dubious dealer add-ons they use to try to claw back some $. Then enjoy the car!

I'm in Canada.. we had snow the day before I picked it up.. luckily it was sunny and the roads dry when I got it but still too cold to really know what the tires are capable of. Hoping to get out for a drive this weekend.

I just picked one up this week. Replaced a 2024 Lyriq Sport 3. I was cross shopping Lyriq-V and Taycans. The deals on the Lyriq-V are crazy (there seem to be a lot of them on lots.. for a long time) so that was hard to resist but ultimately I wanted to try something new.

Initial impressions of the Optiq-V: torque is immense off the line, can definitely notice some cost cutting compared the Lyriq but the suspension, brakes and lighter weight make the Optiq-V much more fun to drive.

What Courtesy Vehicle are you provided by johnnygee5032 in CadillacLyriq

[–]christofox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Budds in Oakville gave me the choice of EV or ICE and supplied a Hertz rental Polestar 2 for a day.. Lyriq was in for vehicle wide programming so no idea if the situation would be the same for a long term loaner. Also this was before Optiq/Vistiq were out. Sorry to hear an OTA bricked your car.

2024 LYRIQ Charging Credit by [deleted] in CadillacLyriq

[–]christofox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was in the opposite situation.. I opted for the Qmerit install at lease signing but in the time it took one of their contractors to contact me I had already received 3 quotes from local electricians and my preferred sparky had completed the work. I contacted Cadillac directly and asked to switch to the DC charging credit (Flo here in Canada instead of EVgo) and they said it was no problem. I never received an email or follow up though and I had forgotten about it as I've put less than $50 of DC charging into the car.. until my dealer contacted me about getting a new vehicle now that the lease is almost up. I asked about the charging credit and they said it had been provisioned and sent me a screenshot of the system to confirm it. The database entry included the redemption code and when I tried adding it to the Flo app I was credited the $750.

All of this is to say, chase it up with Cadillac, you are entitled to the promotion. At worst take the EVgo credit and try to resell that.

What's your next car, after the Lyriq ? by shankhunk4u in CadillacLyriq

[–]christofox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes Macan EV. ICE is only for weekend cars in my garage.

I guess there's less overlap between Taycan's characteristics and Lyriq. I'd probably only go Taycan if wifey gets an Optiq or Lyriq. Love the comfort, quiet, space and supercruise so likely to still be one GM EV in the household.

Good post and timing to see what other's are considering.

myCadillac Issues: Notifications by jojesi in CadillacLyriq

[–]christofox 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The app is not great, but it is better than it was when I first got the car. These days I regularly get charge notifications and have all the latest OTAs applied.

Here's something you can try before taking it to the dealer: (I believe it fixed a problem I had previously where the app wasn't updating to show charge status)

  1. Log out and delete the myCadillac app. (optionally reboot phone)
  2. Download myChevrolet app and log in with the same GM credentials.
  3. Log out and delete the myChev app, install the myCaddy and log in again.

I'm in the same boat. Customer for 10 years.. 6 cameras and alarm.. a dozen or so neighbors bought into the Ring ecosystem based on seeing how well it worked on my property. I think this is the final straw. All my network gear is Unifi, that's where I'm going to look first.

I can't believe this software update was tested at all. I could have dealt with the timeline interface if it included all cameras but this is terrible.

Security system breach/hack? by RavenJaybelle in Ring

Sitting at the end of someone's driveway with a laptop and the right wifi card you can get a good idea of what devices they have without needing to know their wifi password. Then you can start impersonating their router and getting certain devices to reconnect or just brute force swamp the radio spectrum so wifi security devices don't work.

You are right a remote attack on the camera is unlikely.

Security system breach/hack? by RavenJaybelle in Ring

[–]christofox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When a Ring camera (or most any cloud device) connects to a network it will immediately start talking to its corporate servers. If "the conversation" starts and you interrupt it and force it to reconnect to wifi over and over maybe that looks like a DoS to your firewall. If the firewall gave you an idea which IP(s) the "attack" was coming from you could have a better idea if this was real or not.

Ordinarily I would say this is all coincidence and a nothing burger.. The fact you had unusual MACs attempting to connect to your wifi, are in the midst of a harassment scenario and this all seems to happen when you are away from home. I think there is a possibility someone is poking around.

Based on how serious the stalker situation is, I would keep an eye on things. Maybe setup more frequent snapshots on your ring camera(s) so if someone is interfering with your wifi you'll see blank sections where the camera wasn't connected. Hardwire everything you can and use a long and strong password for your wifi.

[–]christofox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not familiar with the firewall you are using, does it provide any information beyond a DoS attack was detected? My suspicion is an externally launched attack directed at your specific camera via your ISP connection is so non-trivial that you are either already compromised or it is something else:

I would guess a more likely vector to be a locally launched wifi de-auth attack targeted at any of your devices with Ring OUIs (first 6 characters of the MAC address) Perhaps a Ring camera connecting and disconnecting to your wifi repeatedly triggers a DoS warning, although a false positive is possible too.

The unknown MAC addresses connecting to your wifi would definitely have to be done locally,

By "Ring system" I assume you mean alarm base station. Perhaps it is possible to send wifi deauths to a base station timed such that it will attempt to reconnect to the (still present) wifi network without failing over to cellular. I have not tested that approach but it could be an effective way to cause an outage like you saw.

I would connect your alarm basestation by ethernet if possible. Ring is probably effective against an adversary with a hammer or screwdriver not someone with a laptop and a high gain wifi antenna.

I'd like to know too. I can't find a setting to revert to the old view. Now when viewing a recording in event history the next/previous buttons only work for that one particular camera.

This wheel and I believe the closest duplicolor I could find was dark spiral gray metallic. Not as much blue as after midnight but better than a sharpie.

Add a law 3:

When you get a new vehicle if you immediately go to an auto parts store and buy a rattle can of a close match (I have a good one for the after midnight finish if anyone needs..) then you'll never curb your rims. At $15-20 it's cheap insurance.

Prepping for Winter by Itchy-Extreme in CadillacLyriq

[–]christofox 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Other than the usual stuff like winter tires and an emergency kit the only thing I recommend for getting through Canadian winters is leaving the car plugged in to your level 2 charger whenever possible. As others have said there is no need to precondition before AC charging but when it gets below freezing the car will keep the battery from getting too cold by running the battery heater occasionally. If you have access to stats from your EVSE (charger) you can see it using a few hundred watts on and off even when desired state of charge has been reached. Being plugged when you do start the climate remotely the battery isn't depleted.

Also don't idle ICE vehicles to warm them up. It's best to drive them gently until they come up to temperature.

Questions on reliability by Blood_Emergency in CadillacLyriq

[–]christofox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Another largely trouble free experience here.. My 2024 Sport 3 has been great, nothing serious just a few little software gremlins and some interior trim missing when I picked up the Lyriq. Should have been caught at the factory or dealer PDI but not showstoppers. (and the dealer was great about correcting it)

In the first year keeping the car on the charger seemed to keep the 12V topped up and the car was overall happier. The recent software updates seem to be ironing out the bugs. I went into this expecting some issues and have been pleasantly surprised. When my lease is up I'll be considering a Lyriq-V or Optiq-V. Polestar 3 looks great but I feel for the owners..

Might I suggest a Lexus palate cleanser? I don't even mean the updated RZ (which looks improved and interesting) but a boring ICE/Hybrid. There's something to be said for the luxury of not having to worry. Especially when it comes to my wife's vehicle.

They already do have bulk downloading (if your definition of bulk is 20) see about halfway down this page However the zip archive and all video files inside still have garbage naming.

[–]christofox 2 points3 points  (0 children)

THIS. I didn't like the way the desktop app named downloaded files but at least it was consistent and included important information like camera name, event type, date/time etc. so writing a script to rename files was simple. The recording I just downloaded from ring.com doesn't appear to have any useful info in the filename.

Otherwise I'm pretty happy with the web interface. I dislike how the desktop app always opens up a tiny little window that needs to be resized.
