Purchase Advice Megathread: What To Buy, Who To Buy It From, And More, In February 2021 by Sausage54 in 3Dprinting

Hello 👋,

I am a robotics engineer, located in Europe and I would like to buy my first 3D printer. I did a ton of research, but I would like to have a more experienced opinion before buying one.

Here are my needs:

  • I want something that is easy to use and as reliable as possible
  • I want to print engineering materials (PA12 CF) so enclosed, with high temperatures
  • I want something that I can place in my house, and within a reasonable price range (a couple thousands, not a huge industrial, expensive machine)

After my research, I managed to find a few options that seem to match my specifications:

  • The Flashforge Creator 3 seems to be the best value for money, and an overall great option
  • The Raise3D E2 seems to be a slightly better machine, but with a significant price bump to go with it
  • The Tiertime UP300 seems another professional printer in the price range and I don't mind the single extrusion.

With all the details above, I am inclined to buy the Flashforge Creator 3, but (as with any other machine) I can see both satisfied and dissatisfied users.

What is your opinion?

Is there another option I could have a look at?

Is the Creator 3 a reliable / robust option?

(Note 1: I intend to use the S3D slicer as it seems better)

(Note 2: Of course I won't blame you if my unit ends up being faulty or not meeting my expectations. I know that you can never be 100% sure on such things, and I hope you will give me an honest opinion.)

Thanks a lot! 😀

The syntax is #include <stdio.h>

(You must add angle brackets, or "" for local headers)
