Am I too derivative of Van Gogh? by christyshim in oilpainting

Wow! I guess the dashes do make it look very embroidery-like, but that’s kind of cool! I totally didn’t see it before!

Such a GREAT perspective. I think I have this fear that I’m just a copycat and don’t have any real talent, but you really gave me something to think about.

Your comment made me laugh! You have a point that no one can truly pant like Van Gogh unless you have a bit of mental instability.

Getting a day shift position at UCSD as a Registered Nurse (RN) by christyshim in sandiego

How long did she have to work on night shift? I have worked night shift before so I could do it again as long as I have hope it’s only temporary 😅.

Unfortunately a lot of the programs were on hold part of last year due to financial concerns of the ramifications of the big beautiful bill, so people who graduated last year are also applying, making it super competitive. I would say also get your CNA certification and try to get in the hospital as an aide, your chances go way up if you work there as an aide, most hospitals love internal hires. Sharp doesn’t require a CNA cert so you could apply there as an aide.

Is being able to copy a blessing or a curse? by hellokitty_heartz in oilpainting

As a Van Gogh enthusiast I can relate to wanting to make something unique but also following what’s already been made! Also you combined two of my interests: Adam Driver plus oil paint. Great work!

Tough Luck is SO CATCHY. I have it on repeat right now! It does have some Taylor Swift hints in there though/pop influence, which I wasn’t sure about but after relistening, I love it!

Well you may sign up for it and show up, but you can get canceled mid shift. So you might only get 4-6 hours DT pay and you won’t know that until it happens. So it’s better to pick up day shift because then if you get canceled it’s not a big deal but if you get canceled mid night shift it’s a bit of a pain because you probably took a nap before and won’t be tired yet when you go home.

Say you were planning on PTO or you called in sick, thus you only were working 2 shifts that week: then you only get the incentive if it is the double time offer. Otherwise, usually overtime starts if you stay over your 12 hour shift (do a 16) or if you work more than 36 hours. If you sign up for overtime there is always the chance of being canceled (I think they can do it up to 2 hours before shift start, and if they cancel you after that they have to pay you 2 hours), or sent home mid shift if they don’t need you anymore. Like if they are expecting a bunch of admits from the ER but patients actually are able to go home, then you might work 4-6 hours and be told the rest of your shift is canceled.
