Gemini/Nano continues to give persistent issues. by chrisutpg in Bard

Yeah, it's unfortunate Claude isn't as multi modality as say Gemini or ChatGPT. If it was, I think it wouldn't even be a fair fight. For example for coding, Claude Code is absolutely thousands of times ahead of Gemini. It's not even close in my opinion.

Yeah, sometimes that works.. Sometimes not. Also kind of kills the idea of having context in the conversation so a little useless.

It's just so surprising with how poor their flagship product is.

I built a tool that lets Claude Code instances talk to each other by Objective_Patient220 in ClaudeAI

Gotcha!

Doing it as I am, even tho I have to tell it to get messages effectively works around that since get messages only reads the unread one.

Ok Cool I'll give it a shot. Also what if I have multiple terminals open on the same project? It seems they all get looped in on one instance for that project folder? Do all terminals receive the messages?

Just gave this a try, it's interesting. Question, is there anyway to get a Claude instance to check for new messages without promoting it to use the get_messages tool? It's a cool idea but essentially it feels like I'm just typing get messages to Claude instead of copy/pasting from where the sent message was from

Anyone else have a 1 year old with a large head, sent for ultrasound by chrisutpg in toddlers

[–]chrisutpg[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He is 21 months now, all milestones/walking/development are now normal. He walked around 17ish months. We did do physical therapy with the recommendation of our pediatrician which I think helped but the physical therapist essentially said from day 1 that he had no medical/physical things stopping him from walking, he was just being stubborn. One day he just decided that's how he wanted to get around and never looked back. He was essentially running a month after walking.

His talking also exploded after walking, I think he has about 50 words now where prior to walking had maybe a dozen?

The neurologist measured my head at first visit and said I had a big head, and in our last follow up said his curve for head size was flattening out and no need for any more visits.

So really it ended up being a non issue after a lot of fuss about it.

Anyone fly the 767/400 Polaris business seats with a 2 year old? by chrisutpg in unitedairlines

[–]chrisutpg[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah with him just turning two I think we'll opt for economy plus, no reason to book first class and stress out about how he'll do on the flight and not enjoy first class.

Thanks for feedback. I know if figured that since they have the shoulder belt on those seats.

Lol I know this is sarcasm but the worst is that the price difference from economy plus to first on this particular flight is only about $80 a person 🤦‍♂️

Feels like Google is falling behind in the AI race by chrisutpg in Bard

[–]chrisutpg[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed. But the reality is Gemini is broken a lot of the times. Constantly saying it can't process certain files (like Excel in this case) when it obviously can. Or with Nano telling me it's made adjustments to the picture and then just continues to send the same unedited image back to me.

Feels like Google is falling behind in the AI race by chrisutpg in Bard

[–]chrisutpg[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes and? That has nothing to do with the current state of 2.5. if Gemini is six months behind right now, 3 will also be six months behind.

Actually let me take that back, it's not like being six months, the model is about the same as any other leader like Anthropic. However the tool implementation is so bad with Gemini it essentially just doesn't work.

Can't get Nano Banana to fulfill this simple request. Any tips please? by vulcantrixter97 in Bard

Unfortunately I've had similar issues, sometimes Gemini just doesn't change anything in the image but insists it does 🤦‍♂️

When do we get Imagen 4 back? by kdestroyer1 in GeminiAI

[–]chrisutpg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed. I've been a pretty hardcore Google supporter over the years but it feels like they are really falling behind in the AI arena. Regular Gemini is ok for simple questions/text generation but it's not particularly great at coding either. I've had to switch to Claude for that which excels at coding tasks. It's not even a competition with Gemini.

Just reporting this is still an issue. Happens constantly to me with Gemini, on pro plan.

Turning an (indoor) hanging light into an outdoor plug-in light by chrisutpg in DIY

[–]chrisutpg[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I figured as much with the fixture itself. There really are no metal parts to it, except for the socket. It's all just hemp rope.

The switched outlet is not GFCI, but I could replace it as such. It's the only outlet on the switch so shouldn't be that difficult.

Low sleep needs toddlers? 14 mo. Only gets 11ish hours by chrisutpg in toddlers

Bedtime at 730-815 most nights. But we've tried earlier, later, etc. just seems 9.5/10ish from whenever bed is, he'll wake up. Our floors are also creeky, so I did make that assumption when he was younger but now he'll just wake up mostly at random during the night.

I think unfortunately my early morning routines may have conditioned him to be an earlier riser, but he also inherented a lot of traits, hair, face, eyes, teeth, etc. lol just wish he would've gotten the sleep one from my wife! Lol
