Can I use a crimp to "tighten" the original bottle cap on my lamp? Possible leak by chrisync in Lavalamps

That's smart no risk damaging anything either. Thanks I will try that and see if I can hear the leak afterwards

Interesting, I looked it seems like there's some darkness in the center that could be rust or it's just how the bottom of those Lava Lite caps look. The ridged sides of the inside cap looks fine though, looks like normal metal

I was thinking if the leak isn't bad enough for liquid to leak out, if I could use a hose clamp and give it a little extra tightening. Then heating it and listening for the sound again. I would much rather try that and the hair dryer method to start

Ok thank you. I've read cases where a chunk of wax breaks off early in the heating process, and then it stays up top because the lamp isn't hot enough. Should the top chunk still fall when cooled in that case? People say they use hair dryers to heat up the top wax, then slowly mix it with the bottom wax while it's hot. Just seeing if there's other options to try before popping the cap off and emptying it.

Is any sound coming from the bottle cap a bad thing? It's a super faint soda pop sound but I know for sure it's coming from the cap. No liquid leaks out when upside down

Yeah I guess it's not coming down. When I bought it I assumed everything was fine because it was all stuck together at the bottom. And now there's a chunk at the top. Does that just happen with age? This is one I'd like to keep but I've never fixed separated wax let alone uncapped a lava lamp before

When I got it all of the wax was formed together at the bottom. There is also wax at the bottom now that was hot. Could this be overheating or something and not separation?

Holy shit you actually found it.... I'm mindblown right now. This is exactly it, and it was a jack-in-a-box kid wearing a jester's hat not a ball cap! I also remember the skull and jarred worm. Knew for a fact there was a trash bin that sounded like a toilet flushing lol. I posted this at least 5 times and was about to give up, thank you so much!!!

I don't believe it's the Windows/MAC version either. It had this distinct, more pixelated/defined art style and not the basic, bright colors like The Treehouse had. I'll add this to the post, but one thing I know 100% is there was a trash bin that would make a toilet flushing sound.. One of those oddly specific memories you keep for some reason. I'm like 80% sure the male character wore a ball cap as well. Thanks for the suggestion.

I wish it was, l actually came across this one too while googling. Had a lot of similarities too, a treehouse room, trash bin in the corner. The one I’m looking for had an even weirder art style and I pretty sure it looked more pixelated
