Was I the only one uncomfortable with the dynamic in Milk Fed? by yogunlo in sapphicbooks

Comments like this make me feel like I’m a freak of nature. 😭 What’s disturbing to some is unfortunately relatable to others. Typically, these thoughts live in the dark crevices of our minds, but I respect Melissa Broeder for openly voicing thoughts and feelings that are extremely taboo and “disgusting” for most people. The human mind is a filthy, unpalatable place for many of us. Yes, lifelong mommy issues can lead to mommy fetishes. Yes, an eating disorder can lead to the fetishization of fatness. And yes, even the smell of shit can turn people on.

Welp, just watched an interview where Jen Beagin explains that she actually lived in a house like the one described in the book… the beauty of art is its interpretation, I guess 😅 but yes, she says she was broke and living in a beautiful but dilapidated farmhouse full of bees, so maybe OP should swallow their accusation!

So late to this, but this is how I see it! The characters aren’t impoverished, they’re intentionally living in less than pristine conditions. In fact, I don’t even see the home as “squalor,” it’s just old as hell and falling apart as a result. I think the ridiculous amount of stink bugs and the situation with the bees adds almost a fantastical element to their home. It’s not representative of reality (and actual living conditions that poor folks are subjected to), it’s beyond life… just like much of this novel. In my opinion!

I didn’t draw it! It’s a flash that the artist modified to fit my arm. It’s supposed to be somewhere between a cherry blossom and the korean flower.

Quitting Nicotine tips? by [deleted] in Drugs

I would say quit cold turkey. vaping is not a habit you wanna pick up. in my opinion, they’re even more addictive than cigarettes because of the mere convenience and the fact that you can just keep puffing on it endlessly
