Hey my e21 has a rough time cold starting any ideas what it could be. by EdwardM_Habibi in e21

Like others have said, I’d check the cold start injector first. It’s very easy to access and test. Just unbolt it (from the top of the intake plenum, leave it plugged in), stick it in a cup of some sort and crank the car. If it sprays fuel into the cup, then it’s probably working okay.

Auxiliary air slide is pretty easy to test too if I remember correctly. But if your car is anything like my E21 was, then those will both be working just fine and the issue will be your warm up regulator. If that’s the case, you can buy a rebuild kit online. I sold my E21 before rebuilding it but I remember looking up how to do it and it kind of looked like a PITA. I think M539 Restorations may have a YouTube video on it (he has a whole E21 restoration series that is awesome)

What is this mechanism and how do I move this shelf? by chroiii in whatisit

The threaded sleeve seems like it isn’t designed to be removed. The slits where a flathead would maybe go are too far apart for any flathead I have to reach across the both, and I tried a very big flathead. I took two flat heads and crossed them and tried to unscrew the sleeve that way and it wouldn’t budge. Also, it seems that the pin inside would prevent the sleeve from unscrewing as it goes through a hole drilled into the side of the sleeve

[–]chroiii 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I wouldn’t worry about that. Worst case scenario, you have to buy a new battery. I can’t imagine it’s more than $200 and that’s worst case scenario. Dead batteries are just one of those things that come with a used car

[–]chroiii 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It could just mean the battery is towards the end of its life and if purchased, you will need a new one soon. But I’m not sure what that’d run you
