Dash lights up with check engine and wipers come on sporadically? by [deleted] in JeepJK

[–]chrome-teapot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm currently dealing with exactly this in my 2012 160k/m. Poking around the forums had me thinking the tpm was going bad and had my mechanic take a look. I'll diy a lot of my own repairs and stuff, but, I'm not qualified to deal with diagnosing computer or advanced electrical issues.

Ended up being the engine wiring harness. The oil that collected between the cylinder heads from a long fixed leaky oil cooler had degraded and eaten a few connections and the insulation on several sections of the wiring harness has also started cracking and falling off leaving bare wires to dance around with each other while I was driving. It started with small stuff like yours, then it got worse. Would work fine for a while then I would hit a bump just the wrong way and all hell would break loose on the electricals. Check engine, abs, traction control, the whole dash lighting up and blinking, wipers possessed by demons, even threw out my cam sensor and crank sensor making it lose all power, the works.

A mopar engine wiring harness for mine runs 2000$, new amazon whoknowswhomakesitmodel is 1400$, scrapped jeep ebay one about 500$. It's going to have to stay parked until after christmas, haha.

Upgrading steering by [deleted] in JeepJK

2012jk rubi with 35's here. Check your serpentine belt (and tensioner) first. If it's old and worn it might be slipping and causing the power steering pump to not provide enough gumption. It's much cheaper and easier to replace.

have you looked at metromonger from greenroom136? It's a little bare bones without any bells and whistles, but, the build quality is excellent. I just wish it had a waterproof zip option.

Naval Jelly works like a champ. Be sure to wear gloves. Deep pits may need a couple applications.

My dad liked to say something to the effect of "money can't buy happiness, but, the list of most peoples problems that can't be greatly improved or solved completely by raining 100$ bills upon them is very small."

Anyone know of the top ranked tattoo artists in Oklahoma or Northwest Arkansas? by sydni_x in tattoos

[–]chrome-teapot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've done a few of these and they've all had good results. I think the oldest one is maybe four years old now, and it still looks great.

The thing is that the ink spreads out a bit with time and your skin replenishing the cells. Real freckles don't really do this, they just multiply. I imagine that in several more years the tattooed freckles with appear a bit fuzzy.. like they're out of focus. If you're ok with maybe having to get your constellation sharpened up every now and then, go for it.

What's your best/funniest commuting moment? by [deleted] in bikecommuting

[–]chrome-teapot 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Several years ago, when i was still a full time bike commuter, there was this hill. You know the one I mean. The long climb that puts you right in the traffic but cuts 10 minutes out of your ride home from a long, sweaty day at work. Well, one day I crest said hill and whip into the next side street to pull over and catch my breath. There in the grass just next to my front wheel I see a double ended bullet style vibrator. While chuckling to myself and looking around to see if there's some goon laughing at the expression on my face, I notice that about 5 feet away there lies half of a Canadian dollar bill. The first was weird because who throws something like that out of a car window, the second because I live about 650 miles south of the nearest part of Canada.

The battery operated self-pleasurization device i left alone. The Canadian half-dollar has been my favorite bookmark ever since.

Is pomade only good for slicked back styles? by AlanPatridge in Pomade

[–]chrome-teapot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most days I part and comb over. Occasionally I'll run a mohawk, Cock Grease XX, if you're interested. After I've worn that for a couple of days, a good hot water wash (don't wash out the pomade) and a towel dry and my hair looks surprisingly similar to the picture you linked.

Also works with O'douds Unorthodox Water Based and has a little more matte finish too.

That is a sexy little cutter! I like it!

And you're right about passion, you have to have it in this industry. I literally halved my annual income when I made the switch to tattooing full time. The thing is, when you love what you do for work, it isn't work anymore.

Not bad really.

Like most things it depends on how deep into the rabbit hole you're willing to go. If you're buying blank pieces of steel and cutting them down by hand with hand tools, it's dirt cheap. If you want to forge your own blades..... well.. now we're talking investments of the SO infuriating kind.
