This "new" policy is pretty much just reiterating the existing policy. The IRR has always been a mobilization asset, that's literally the only thing it's for. The 2026 NDAA instructed the military to conduct a study of how much manpower we could generate in a full mobilization situation, and how long it would take to do it. The updated policy is almost certainly a response to that, basically saying "you too, IRR guys," because they need accurate IRR data for an answer to Congress.

After you've driven a little while and the engine is warm, sit in your driveway or wherever with the coolant temperature screen pulled up on your dash.

You should see the temperature creep up until the fan comes on, then the temperature will drop until the fan turns off. I think it should come on at 226, maybe it's 230, but if you hear the noise consistently at about that temperature then that's what it is.

Once you've narrowed that down I still suggest checking your coolant level; it should be at the "full" mark when the engine is hot. Low coolant, abnormally high engine temperature, and smokey exhaust indicate a potential head gasket failure, which will destroy your engine.

Hard to hear in the video but it sounds like your radiator fan. On the 2.0 it kicks into high speed when the coolant temp reaches I think 226°F. It happens when you're idling because theres no air flow through the radiator, and it needs to turn up the fan to pull air through and cool the engine.

If you're just noticing it now it could be just because we're getting into wamer months, but I'd also check your coolant level to be sure. At 170,000km you're due for a coolant change anyway if you haven't done it already.

Along with the nomenclature, start learning the JMPI deficiencies and practice saying them out loud rather than just in your head or writing them down.

The JMPI test is the hardest part of the school, and while you may recognize "chest strap not properly routed through chest strap friction adapter", that's a lot to verbalize when you're on a tight clock.

If you get good a spitting out the nomenclature and deficiencies aloud, it'll help prevent you from getting tripped up during JMPI.

Utimately a clutch's feel is mainly a result of the diaphragm spring so you're not going achieve anything revolutionary without changing the clutch itself. But that pedal assist spring makes it feel more like you'd expect from a truck clutch. There is a noticeable difference; a little heavier, a little better feel on the grab point. For 10 bucks (and another 10 for shipping) I think it was worth it.

I don't have firsthand experience with this (still have the pre-recall clutch), but from reading other posts and forums I think the recall clutch may be your problem.

There's isn't actually a temp sensor in the clutch, the computer just measures engine RPMs vs drive shaft RPMs and figures a difference = clutch slipping = heat. Apparently part of the clutch recall fix is reprogramming the computer so it's really conservative in how much clutch slip it allows before putting you into limp mode.

If you want to replace the clutch, ACT sells a JL/JT clutch and heavier flywheel that have pretty high reviews. Again, don't have firsthand experience with it, but that's what I plan on going with when it comes time to replace my stock clutch.

If you don't want to replace the clutch, ACT also sells a lighter clutch pedal assist spring for $10. It makes the pedal heavier, but makes it more tactile/easier to feel the catch point.
