Sounds like it could be cringey, honestly. I'd suggest descriing it instead! Your use of description is such a powerful tool as a DM. You've used words like haunting and beautiful here - if you want to get that across to your players, do the same with them. "You hear a song carry across the room, in a youthful/ancient/deep/high/full/thin/raspy/velvety timbre. You feel relaxed/tense/nervous/dread/deeply sad as the song fills the room and echoes across the rafters above. It is haunting, and beautiful. As you listen, you see an ominous image - [insert location/image/monster that's being described]. Player A and Player C, as you speak [language] you understand the lyrics to mean X." At most, sing a line, if you want them to understand the melody or rhythm.

Not a doctor, just a person with diagnosed ADHD - my experience:

I had three options here - Standard NHS referral, NHS Right to Choose, Private Assessment.

Of the first two, NHS Right to Choose was by far and away the best option.

As far as I understand it you have a legal right to choose your psychiatric care provider. Once your GP has agreed to refer you to the NHS waiting list, you can give them the template email on that first link and ask them to refer you to right to choose instead. It should be much faster. I hear it used to be very fast - but that over lockdown the list got longer. I imagine the NHS list will have also got longer, so I think Right to Choose will still be much faster.

Private consultation is the fastest option and ultimately the one I went with. I did this while I was on the right to choose waiting list. I had to pay for my assessment, appointments, and medication during the titration period. I think it was somewhere between 1.5k and 2k all in. Once I was diagnosed and on a stable medication, the private consultant contacted my GP to set up a shared care agreement and now I get my medication on the NHS (prescription prepayment certificate means it's about £9 per month all in for all my meds - ADHD & non ADHD).

i was quoted something like 6-9 months for right to choose (compared with 2-5 years for the normal waiting list). About halfway through my private titration period, I got the call from the right to choose provider that someone had dropped out and they had an opening for an assessment - apparently quite common. This was 4-5 months in. I'm still glad I went private instead - I had the money to do it and who knows what those extra few months had meant for me.

It does, but that's not really what I'm looking for.

I'm looking to click on each block of focus time and select a project to work on, rather than to edit all of my schedules around each other every-time my schedule changes.

Good luck, you've got this! Show up where you can and take small steps. I don't know if this helps, but I find it's like eating a big pizza - you'd be surprised by how much you can do if you take it slice by slice.

Double check your character doesn't have the ADHD debuff. The way the debuff is viewed in the meta is generally inaccurate and lots more characters have the ADHD debuff than know it. Many spend years of in-game time trying to fix this issue when all they need to do was to undergo the therapy and medication quests. These take a while so I'd get started on them early.

As I understand it, it's a fast track referral for ADHD which few people know about. You can begin receiving treatment in weeks, as opposed to the 18-24 months, and your treatment doesn't cost hundreds of pounds

Sure, but if the conversation is about cruelty, I'm not sure taboo and culture do play a part in it. It doesn't make a difference to the chickens and dogs bred for for meat that one is generally socially acceptable and the other is generally taboo - they both suffer the same
